Is there a way or source that I can access that I can find the values of the Linden on a specific day in the past? As far as I can tell in the LindeX: Market Data page...

https://secure-web2.secondlife.com/currency/market.php

...you only get the closing day of the day before.

Is there somewhere else this past info is available?

Thanks.

If it had not changed then it would be a straight, flat line.

Its unfortunate some people feel compelled to reply to forum questions when they have no answers or nothing to add.

Was the point to advertise your product?

This is the main reason I have not posted a question here in months.

Loydin, that was uncalled for. Poopmaster was simply providing information, which you are free to disregard. And the product advert is part of his signature, which is standard practice here.

The fact is that the Lindex has held nearly even, with no SIGNIFICANT changes, for almost a year:

Also, the page you cited has the market info for the past 30 days. Obviously that's not a lot of history, but it's something.

Well, as I stated Ava, it has changed, or it would be a straight line. Thta it has not changed Well, as I stated Ava, it has changed, or it would be a straight line. That it has not changed enough would eliminate the trading of of the LInden as a currency. I can tell you as an island owner who collects rent in Lindens and then has to pay my bill in dollars to the LIndens, I pay attention to it. I would imagine that anyone doing real business here would find your comment and the other guy, whose name I will not repeat, ludicrous. The more the amount the more it matters.

I asked a clear question with one answer that I do not have at my disposal, if I had received an answer that showed any respect for the question then I would have delivered my gratitude. Why did he respond if he did not know the answer? To see himself in print? Or to advertise his product?

Advertising in your signature is an abuse of the purpose of the forum which is meant as an exchange of information. I have made a post about this issue in these forums. These forums are unusual in that they allow this practice, most forums I use for application software does not allow this and you would be suspended if you did it.

Uncalled for? Hmmmm, maybe if more people said something about this behavior it would stop. I would rather never have an answer than see an alert in my email only to come and see there is nothing to see.

Again, Ava, if the page I cited had the answer I would not have wasted people's time here. Its not good enough.

I often try to be helpful and offer up an answer to something and then someone will come along and give a better or more complete answer. Instead of attacking and derailing your own thread, why not wait a few hours and see if someone more knowledgeable comes along to help you?

Loydin,

Send me an Email address and I will supply you with an Excel spreadsheet that contains among other things the low price for the day and daily average for every day back to 16 April 2007. You will see the panic in the summer of 2006 and subsequent settling down that occured during the fall.

PS you don't have to rush I'm leaving for Boston in a few hours and wont be back until the 17th so will be away from my computer.

Loydin, I'm going to try to give you some helpful advice here. It won't specifically answer your question, but I hope it will help you get better answers in the future.

First, and most important, the forums are a place for discussion. You initiate a thread, but you do not own it. The information provided by responders may not be exactly what you are looking for, but it might be of interest to other readers.

Second, discussion often leads to the answers you seek. Even if a particular post is not relevant to you, it bumps your thread back to the top of the list where it will be seen by more people. The more people who see it, the more likely it is someone will post an answer that is useful to you.

Third, attacking the people trying to answer your question is counterproductive. It discourages others from posting, and one of those people you scared off might have been the one with your answer.

I hope you take this advice in the helpful spirit in which it is intended. I am a professional librarian, and it is my job to help people find the information they are looking for. I love doing it, and I am considered exceptionally good at it. From experience I can tell you that questions are rarely answered in one go. It's a back and forth process, with you helping those helping you to more fully understand what it is you need. This process only works with cooperation on both sides.

So in summary: Your information queries will be far more successful if you graciously accept any help offered and politely clarify your needs if necessary. :)

See Loydin, if you had just been patient, you would have had your answer and you could have kept the fact that you are an asshat a secret.

Wow, look at all the language generated that has little or nothing to do with the subject at hand. I only really came back to thank Svar Beckersted.

As to the rest, what can I say?

I do not really see these forums as chat rooms. Maybe I am wrong but they serve no purpose for learning. Svar is a shinning example of how things are supposed to work.

The name calling and the lecture on perceived manners, well there you go. Ava, you seem like a decent sort but I am not sure why you felt the need to come and express your opinion on a subject tangental to the core issue. Obviously we see the forums and their purpose very differently.

Raymond Figtree you just need to acquire some maturity and self control.

These forums have way too much wasted discussion. Believe me the majority of professionals who work in SL feel the same way, I am not in the minority here and most avoid this place and that's really too bad.

My fourth grade teacher said the same exact thing. I think I'm beyond help at this point. But thank you for exhibiting restraint at my insult. I apologize and have deleted it.

Agreed, advertising within your signature on the forum should not be allowed and advertising in your signatures is spam in my opinion and no different to using ad farms or spamming people with note cards or images in world. It's unnecessary and intrusive and makes the people that do it, look desperate for business. Not a good image to portray.

omg some people are getting really out of hand
go to the user cp and turn the signatures off if you dont like em there is no reason why soomeone can't display their banner or link to their house or shop if they so please to me it shows they are proud of it

first poster not happy with the answers given
first poster gets mad because of the signatures and what they say

so if we are not good enough for you then fine please go away lol we have confirmed to you we are indeed stupid

and i have no idea why i am replying to this because honestly it looks like a trolling attempt other then the fact that recently so many people are peeved off with the answers they do get lets just shut down the resident answers forum now since we are indeed totally useless and you can go ask Linden lab or search the database and we will leave it at that

Also you wont have to look at anyones signature any longer and all will be cheery with the world..

*has no idea why he even posted a reply to this thread*

p.s. up until today the selling price of the linden on the lindex has been between 266 and 265 L its dropped to 264 which is an all time low for the past 6 months or so..

:(
