Ok, I spend an hour or two a day (yes, I'm addicted), reading the forums. As I read, I find references to cool stores, sims, locations, etc that I want to check out LATER. I am not in world, and I don't want to go in world right then to look at that one cool thing I just ready about, because i am still reading the forums, and don't want to get distracted. I will go in world LATER. And this does not even begin to address some of the blogs I read, that feature great places to go visit.
If I was logged in, maybe variously titled notecards, for my inventory, and just add things to the appropriate notecard? Or copy and paste into a text document, and refer to it later, or transfer it to in world notecards? And I don't want to just landmark it, because my landmarks are a mess, and you can't include enough info with the about why you saved them (even when you rename them - characters are limited). The best I could do with landmarks would be to embed them in a notecard? And continuing to create new folders doesn't work so great, because every new thing you mark or create does not get put in the correct folder you have created, and then you have to search for it immediately, and move it.
Right now, my desk, two (yes I have two on my desk) computer monitors, and keyboards, and every available place on my actual desk are covered with hot pink post-it notes. And then they get buried, because lengthy posts, like directions how to do something, get printed out, and I highlight all over them, and then they get piled on the desk, on top of the post-it notes, and on top of each other.
And some of what I collect is just for fun, and some is business-related (two different business fields to keep track of)
So everything gets lost - i don't remember what info I have collected, and every day that I read the forums, and continue to do this, the more overwhelmed I become.
Do I have everyone's total sympathy now? You are crying that Linden has locked your account, taken your money, refused to answer your questions, etc........
And I am boo-hooing because I am disorganized! But I figure we can't do anything about the Linden stuff, but, much like my infamous shoe post, we can come up with productiive answers here to help each other out.
So, how about it. How do you keep it all organized as you go along, so you don't have a nightmare later?
Princess Ivory (who is not at present locked in her tower, which is a good thing, because it is covered with post-it notes inside!)

Hi i send myself e-mails with either the link to the forum item or to the shop/sim/event. I keep track of my favourite LMs by putting a short note in my profile on my comments tab. despite this my desk is stil covered in old envelopes (from junk mail) that i recycle as jotters.

Install Google desktop and the notepad plug in there. Have it open in a sidebar while you read the forums and just paste or type in the notepad, it autosaves.
Or folders in your favorites and add the treads to them ...
Or use a word document ...

I had someone else suggest Google Desktop as well. Since I already use their email, blogger, groups, etc, it would make sense to add one more Google product!
Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the advice. I love it Someone also made a plug-in to show gridstatus. Handy on wednesday when you are doing something else while waiting for the game come up. I use it to show system resourse, to have a handy notepad, for grid status, a caluclator and to autocheck all my emails in one window

From: Princess Ivory Ok, I spend an hour or two a day (yes, I'm addicted), reading the forums. Holy cow, I spend 4-6 hours a day at least! So if you're a forum addict, that would me what? Yep, I am the forum junkie lying face down in the Midnight City gutter, begging passers-by "Please, I just need one more post. Strife cut me off cold turkey!"
