Hello everyone,

I am a bit confused about the buy and purchase limits..

When I buy Lindens directly it goes from Buy limit, that i understand. And i am now at my limit for now.. (though if i understand it will, in a few days that limit should be a bit higher hopefully)

But what is the purchase limit for? And could I use that to buy Lindens with that or is that meant for something else? If you can use it to buy Lindens then can someone explain me how I can do that?

I am obviously a big newbie here (created my account on 4/28/07) and i figured i would ask here because its been annoying me for a few days now.

Thank you in advance,

Purchase limit is a little confusing, just think of it as a billing limit instead, which is what it actually is :). It indicates how much you can bill your credit card/PayPal for duing the month.

The reason your billing limit is higher than your buy limit is because you might want to go premium.

Your purchase limit is the amount of transactions you can have per month with your credit card or paypal.

Your buy limit is the amount of lindens you can buy on the lindex per month.

I don't think the previous two replies were correct regarding Purchase Limits.

I think what it actually is, is the maximum amount that you can use in US$ that are stored in your Linden Labs SL account, for things like tier and mainland auctions.

Any amount OVER your purchase limit can NOT be billed off your US$ balance in your LL/SL account, and must INSTEAD be billed to your PayPal or Credit Card account (for which, as far as I know, there's no limit).

When I purchased a mainland sim, it went FAR over my remaining "purchase limit", but LL had no problems charging the remaining amount to my credit card.

So can I or can I not use that purchase limit to buy Lindens? (So transfer money to the US Balance on my account then use that to buy Lindens?)

No, the purchase limit is the limit on what the billing for a month. If you are over the limit, LL will still charge your card or paypal the full amount and you will go into negative limits. If you try and buy something else while you are over your limit, it will be denied.

Your buy limits are how much you can buy using the Lindex and your purchase limits are how much US$ you can transfer into your account.

The purchase limit shows how much money you can transfer into your Second life account per month.

The buy limit is the amount of lindens you can then purchase with the money you transferred in, per month.
