Time Dilation issues

Here is a problem making life and content creation nearly impossible for me and a number of friends: the region Time Dilation falls (up to 0.1) for short but repetitive periods of time. Saving a script or modifiying an object inventory fails or becomes extremely slow The number of avatars cannot explain. As I write this, TD in Bassenthwaite is 0.04, and we are 12 agents.

My question is : what can we do except Ctrl-Q and canceling our Second Life account?

Most likely, a script pig is hogging all the CPU. We have no tool to measure script usage. Does Linden help here? Should we abandon Second Life to script pigs and wait for a better metaverse? More and more regions are now made unusable by this problem.

Well you could move or build in another area; file a bug report; use Help Request; or post on the Technical Feedback forum. Those are things I would try before deleting Second Life.

I think people actually have had varying degrees of success convincing a Linden to come to the area and assist.. surely they would have the tools to know if it was a script causing the sim to dilate.. and probably could locate and disable it.. Help Request is certainly worth a shot..

We've been battling these sorts of niggling issues for years. Would seem that as soon as it's resolved a different one crops up. Admittedly this time delay is really annoying but I think you just need to work around it. I've constantly had to adapt the way I work due to technical issues as the only other option is to stop building which will mean i'll stop playing. My advice is to grin and bear it, it will (hopefully) get better.

There are prim limits for a person's property right? Do you think it would be possible to restrict the amount of scripts one avatar can run on 1 sim? Some kind of new feature Linden Labs can implement for the poor unfortunate souls who live right near script happy clubs and casinos with camping chairs?

On Private Islands, the Estate Owner has access to a DEBUG menu in 'Region/Estate Tools...' Debug will show, very clearly, a sorted list of the worst COLLISION events and SCRIPT hogs...the owner, the location, the CPU time being eaten...

When this is occuring, summon a Linden and ask for help in identifying the culprit...offer to find the offending item on your own, if Help Linden can just point you where to look.

Also, be aware that a physical server in the SL architecture actually runs multiple SIMS. (4, I believe). This means that the offending script/object could be on another SIM entirely, in which case, ONLY a Linden can help you.

Of course, its like taking your car to the mechanic...the problem never occurs in the shop with the mechanic watching... :)

That's a tool that should to be available to anyone, if we want to manage common resources in a fair way.
