so has anyone noticed that whenever you change anything on your character, your character starts getting all funkyfied and starts flashing different textures that don't belong on your character in the first place?
i can't customize my character because of this, it's hard to tell what your doing when your character is trying to cause an epileptic seizure!
does anyone know what is going on here and how to fix it?...i'm a total noob to SL, so go easy on me...

Hello Sevira - welcom to SL and the forum. Hope you'll have a great time. It sounds like welcome to my world as well because that is my SL experience. I'm guessing that your computer just meets the minimum specs (like mine). There are a few things you can do to lessen the problem. In Preferences go to Graphics and turn draw distance down to 64m (the default is set at 12 . In Graphics Detail ake sure that that Enable Vertex Shaders and Enable Bumpmapping and Shiny are unchecked. When the flickering gets very bad, you can turn off local lighting and set terrain detail to low. Disappointing, I know, but you won't have to do it all the time. Finally you need the Client menu. Hit ctrl+alt+shift+D (I'm on a Mac and ctrl works for me) and to the right of Help you'll now see Client. In that menu you'll see Rendering and if you click on that, Types. In Types are a list of features you can turn off. Particles is a good one to start with because it reduces the strain on your machine. Clear your cache regularly - not in Prefs but from your hard drive. On a Mac that's Library/Application Support/; on a PC it's C:/documents and settings/<Your computer name>/Application data/second life/cache. Hope this helps.
