Greetings all... I'd like to know, when one is being verbally assualted in IM, is there a way to block such? I already have my settings set to only friends see me but guess she used the search and clicked on msg from the profile page. So...I've tried using mute and hope it works. IS THIS THE ONLY WAY TO BLOCK UNWANTED PEOPLE BEING IN TOUCH? Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Thank you! Kismet

There is a Mute button, I believe.

Kismet If it borders on harrasment, inform them to stop in a polite way, and that you are keeping copies of everything they say and will be filing a AR to LL, and make sure you do.

Mute

Dearly Darling,
You can click on their profile and click mute. They can't contact you any more when you do that. But I'd report who ever it is for harrassment as AWM Mars says to do. Speaking of which....did you remember that tooth paste cap this morning AWM?
You all have a lovely day.

As suggested by the kind folk above.. 1. Mute this individual. You might also want to .. 2. Remove them from your friend's list. 3. Delete their contact card from your inventory. 4. Tick 'make my online status visible only to my friends' under the Communications section of preferences. 5. Leave any groups this person is also in, and make sure you're not in any 'open enrollment' groups (ie. all groups you're in should be invite only). That is the super paranoid way of shutting somebody out.

From: Object Pascale That is the super paranoid way of shutting somebody out. I prefer the simple approach of simply muting them. Of course, if they are on your land, setting it to damage and then shooting them back home is good too. Make sure you ban them afterwards But if you feel it is crossing too many lines, mute them or AR them. I never saw the point of ARing them, since it takes a lot longer to work than a simple muting.

I agree. If somebody annoys me in chat I mute them. If somebody attacks me on my land, home they go and they get a temporary ban. It's surprising how many people don't realise their last login dates are easily available through group membership though .. when they're trying to avoid you and pretend they didn't login for weeks. Um, not that anybody did that to me. /grin I was perhaps reading too much between the lines of the original message.
