Hello! While the 1.14 client crashed maybe once, twice a day, the new 1.15 version crashes to desktop much more often. Several times per hour, it seems usually in more crowded areas. Anyone made the same experience? The 1.15 is really a pain to use...

For as little as I've been in-world lately (RL work crunch time), I can empathize. Not only crashing to desktop but extremely slow log-off, missing inventory, oddness in building/editing/repositioning of prims... the list goes on and on. All bug reported, so we shall see. Hope things improve soon

Is it possible that the viewer setup is over-estimating the capabilities of your workstation? Peek through the Graphics Detail and Advanced Graphics tabs in your prefs and disable things like: [x] Enable Vertex Shaders [x] Anisotropic Filtering [x] Enable OpenGL Vertex Buffer Objects Vertex shaders and VBO can both cause crashes on under spec'd video hardware, and the more they're used on such hardware, the more frequent the crashes, stop errors, etc will be. Anisotropic filtering may not be causal to your crashes, but it is still rather expensive, computationally speaking.

I appreciate your input...what kind of graphics card would you think is the minimum requirement to have all quality options enabled?
In any case, it's still sad the application is crashing instead of just slowing down, giving some warning or whatever.

I had the extremely long log off problem before the current update. My favorite thing for the last few weeks as been the (Not Responding) I get while logging in. It almost always kicks through but now I just wander in, start the log in process and then wander out of geek central (that would be our home office) for a while. The hard part is it isnt consistent so its hard to find the issue and a fix for it.
Really long log outs result in a rebooting of my entire system and a notice that SL had crashed when I try to log in again. Oy.

I was about to complain about the same thing but then I noticed that my internet connection was dropping out every 30mins to two hours, the mini-map turns red. I am in the uk and use a netgear router which i have updated and reset a couple of times. I can only think that it is my service provider because i do not see how sl could be responsible.

From: Janine Binder Anyone made the same experience? I had the exact opposite experience. Viewer 1.14 was crashing after only 2-3 minutes in SL, effectively booting me out of the game, and bringing my computer down too. Worst crashing I've ever experienced, so I had to roll back to 1.13 to get back into SL. I was very apprehensive about the mandatory update to 1.15, but it's working just fine for me. Only 1 crash a day, which is acceptable, especially since only the viewer crashes now and the computer OS appears untouched. For what it's worth, the problem with 1.14 appeared to be that it was overheating my computer and frying my graphics card. Fortunately, I stopped using it before the damage was permanent. So, check your case to make sure your fans are all working, clean out the dust, and consider whether your cooling is marginal and needs a boost from an additional fan.

Well, glad 1.15 is working for you Any crashes I experienced (with 1.14 or 1.15) have always been crashes to desktop, leaving the OS untouched. And I can assure you it's not my computer overheating or being unstable etc., I won't bother going into details, but any advice about checking my computer is not gonna do it for me. I checked few things so far: - Running the graphics driver and the second life client single threaded: still crashed. - disabling OpenGL vertex buffer objects: still crashed.

Yep, I've seen a fair amount of crashing, too. But not to desktop. I've been participating in the Life 2.0 Summit at Dr. Dobb's island, and my client hung about six times throughout the day. I don't know if it's on my side or the server, but it's a hassle since there's no indication that anything's wrong until you notice no one is talking any longer.
