Banning someone from your land

It may be known by now that I am not very against "strangers" visiting my land and house. But of course I expect proper behaviour of my guests.

Sadly it is at times needed to ban someone that doesn't want to listen to the simple rules I have on my land. I always talk first, it is too easy to assume that what is logical and normal to me, will also be to someone else. But when it comes down to that sad moment, I am on my land The Goddess under Linden ^^.

Anyway, is there not a faster way to ban someone? Now I have first to go "to About land", go to the "ban"-tab, look up the name and then press "select". And even then it takes some time before the ban gets active.

If it is needed, then I want to have it active as fast as possible, so I can get ride of the trouble-maker.

Maybe it would be nice to have on the pie that you when right-click an avatar also a ban-option (if you have the needed rights of course). That would make it all easier and faster.

Or are there other solutions for this around (I am counting a bit on this :) ).

Thanks.

Morwen.

For quick action, couldn't you freeze the person from the pie menu first, then you have time to do whatever you need to do in peace?

Oh goody.... by your message I looked Freeze up in the knowlegde-base and found this:

This will help already a lot I think..... freeze, eject & ban!

Thank you.

When I first arrived on the mainland, an SL friend of mine showed me how to use the "freeze, eject" procedure to deal with griefers. He flew around bashing me with his sword while I fumbled to click and freeze him. The practice came in handy when a stranger walked through my front door and made himself at home in front of my fire (while I was undressing, mind you). Freeze, eject, ban.

Yep, very effective.

Here is how I do it.

I use both the access list and the ban list.

I keep a list of allowed people on the access list, but keep that list disabled.

If I need to ban someone fast, or deal with a lot of trouble makers, enabling the "access only" is a one click remedy that removes everybody but friends fast.

You can then add to the ban list at a more relaxed rate, and then disable the access only option.

You can buy "secuirty systems" that help with banning and ejecting.

I personally use the Psyche secuirty orb system. http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=82704

Set to target all those no on my allow list (or you can reverse to only hit targets you choose), set range to max (90ish meters or land size/height which ever comes first), and TP HOME! mwhahahahahahaha

Great item though can be used on personal or group land has a user list, a safe list, and a bad list.

Also the mystitool does it as well as part of it's addon system.

*grins*

The person with who I share my land (my RL partner) had to play sitting duck today.... or better said, running away and escaping duck. Learned a lot from that....

Also when we changed positions and I became "the duck" :)

Thank you for all the advices.

To be honest, those things are the second thing of my list that I dislike concerning privacy matters in Second Life (the first thing are ban-lines).

It makes me grumbles when I flying around seaching for good backgrounds for pictures I want to make and I get bounced home if I don't react fast enough.

Luckily there are also people who honored and pleased when I ask them if I may use their land to make pictures.

(had this huge post and the forums ate it.)
Basicly yes I have an orb. Yes I have need for an orb over land band. Would I be unreasonible if you IMed me to say "hey I wanna take a snapshot of the sunset from your land is that ok?" I'd 90% let you in. The reason it's there is for accidental dropins from the void sim next door, the Rp above, old LMs, and the more common resident that wanders and wants to cam in on my private time or study my projects. I have no problem with most polite people if they use common sense. Problem is most do not use, care to use, or are to new to understand the "standard" of privacy unless you have up an orb or ban lines. Oh and yes I have had requests before to do A or B on my land and I let them gladly normally if it's not a huge deal.
