Need Help - No Sounds On My Land :-(

Hi:

Alll of the sound devices I have on my land have stopped working. These are background sounds like waves and birds. I have taken some of them to other locations and they work fine there, but not on my land My media music stream still works on my land but nothing from the background sound effect devices.

My house is on a low lag sim that is otherwise performing very well.

Yesterday I bought the land parcel next to mine and joined the two. I don't know if this has anything to do with it.

I have cleaned cache, double checked all my Viewer Preferences and land options and I don't see anything that could be causing this.

Any suggestions please?

Is your land grouped? Or was it before you joined the land parcels? And if so, are your items deeded to the right group?

Aside from that, I can't think of why else they would stop working. You might try a very slow, careful read down every option in every tab in About Land. I do not think there is an option for spacial sounds on land, but LL sneaks in stuff all the time without telling us *rolls eyes*

TY Jessica. No groups associated with my land. The parcel I bought yesterday was group owned.

Anyway its even more weird than I thought. A friend visited and said that she could hear all the sounds. So I made an alt character to test it out and I could hear everything with the new alt But when I got back on my regular AV I heard the sounds for maybe a second and it all went silent for me again, even though my friend could still hear.

Clear Cashe. Relog. Rinse Repeat.

Sounds like you have a hiccup with your main, but with the client-sim interface. A sim restart may fix this as well. Put in a Support Ticket (if Support is up yet) to request one, or if it's a private island, IM the owner to see if they can reset the sim.

But no matter what, I'd expect this glitch to go away after Wed when LL brings the grid down for the update. That should clear out and reset all interface settings/cashe on their side. Just make sure to clear your cashe prior to the update.

check to see if you audio is muted.

have you cleared your cache?

maybe mess around in the audio tab in SL.

sounds to me, (no pun intended), that its a setting for your avatar that is muting the sound somehow. let us know what you find out.

OK I Give Up

My friend has one of the same sound devices I have (it makes surf sounds). She put hers on my land and I can hear it fine. But I can't hear the same device that I own but she can. Also, I can hear the background sounds on all the other lands in my sim.

TY Xplorer and agian Jessica but I have tried all of that. I guess Ill just wait till Wednesday and see what happens. Until then I will contemplate upon The Silence

*chuckles* Well, there is one thing you can try... and who knows, it might work. Try resetting the script in the sound object and see if that magically causes you to hear the sounds too.

(It's Second Life, where the video drivers can cause the uploads to fail! I figure anything possible!)
