Okay.. SL is down again for maintenance. What to do.. I know... how about we shake things up and have a fun thread. How many people find their shoes and their hair sometimes sticking out of their butt!?! I've seen it happen to others too so I'm guessing a lot of people have probably experienced this. Why the butt? Why just shoes and hair? All the obvious puns and jokes aside here how many others have had this happen to them? What other wacky anomalies have you come across? For example, I was in a store and the moment I 'wore' a demo hairpiece all my clothes instantly vanished. (it was shortly after this that I decided to organize my inventory so I could find things faster. hehehe)

I have had several instances where after Telerporting, all my attachments, hair, shoes , jewelry were centered in an unfrotunate area. The funny thing was my friend was seeing me normally, while I was bald with..you know.

I actually rather like the 'shoe up bum' syndrome. It's not the worst bug in SL.. okay, it is if you are going to a PG area, but the prim hair at least will get snorts of laughter all around.
Heck, they are finally getting rid of a bug where you change clothing on a character and they'd stand up... I though that was a feature, it's been in there for so long.
I like the occasional failure of the AO's and your head winds up your bum too. Combine this with dancing and you have a classic ZOMG moment!

That clothing thing was a bug? You mean we will be able to change clothing without getting up?! Know how much time and annoyance that will save when doing photos on a pose set in a studio? I really gotta learn to read patch notes, but I figure its only getting my hopes up lol

the question that plagues my mind... WHY UP THE BUTT? of all the places for a bug to re-attach things, it goes up the butt...

Dunno why the butt....all prims gravitate towards the largest area on the body? Wait, that wouldnt work for the women that have a maxed chest...hmmm. It all gathered at the center point of the body? Its better than having them all show up somewhere else though isnt it? Logging in with shoes, skirts, jewlery, et all sticking out of your head wouldnt be so good lol

The 'root prim' of an avatar skeleton, so to speak, is the hip joint. All positioning relative to the avatar is calculated from that point. So, if the attachments somehow 'forget' the position offsets, they appear at 0,0,0 on the body, which is centered on the pelvis.

I'm guessing it's because the hip is the base point for the av structure. If you notice whenever you use particle effects, if they are targeted to an av, that is also the point it aims at.. which is pretty funny in itself hehe. edit...(Doh.. I'm typing slow today)

well, a chum asked 'where's Bilbo?' the other night. I couldn't see anything wrong till he sent me a snapshot he'd taken and there is my head, in mid-air with prim hair on it .. and nothing below the neck .. just levitating there ... spooky!!

I think the bug chose that point for the most laughs. I mean, if they were all sticking out your hand or head, it would be nearly as funny as the prim hair/shoes down below!
It gets really confusing, because they changed the default attachment point from the head to the hand... so you'd think it would all go to the default point. Maybe the butt was the oldest default point?

I always thought it was my fault or possibly like those cage things ... here comes a landlord shoe up butt gun loaded sort of thing.
"My name is Andrew and I am a shoe up butt person"
[EDIT] Out of interest does anyone else ever find it is always the left foot? Just wondering which Lindens are left-handed/left-footed.

I can handle the shoe or hair in the unfortunate area....but trying to attach a diamond stud earring or a nose ring and it ends up there is just a nightmare! I guess I'll have to start wearing **bling** jewelry so I can find it easier! ~Ari

I've been having that happen to me lately.. however by far the most embarrassing was when I met this guy at the club. He was taking me to his place to take a look around. We had been chatting for awhile and really starting to hit it off so of course I'm trying to be on my best behavior. So we TP to his house and my screen comes up and OH MY LORD! My HEAD was sticking out of my butt! The whole top portion of myself was cut off and my poor little head was sticking out of my bum!!! Talk about a great first impression. So of course i make joke of it and he asks if I'd like to take a shower. Luckily.. right when he asked if he could give me a kiss the exact same thing happend to him. It broke the ice and luckily didn't ruin anything. I'm living with him now.. lol Guess some good comes out of the whole things coming out your butt.
