I have a single 512 mainland parcel that I would like to set up for rent. What would be the simplest way to collect rental payments and allow tenant to build?

Since it's just one parcel, the easiest thing is to have the renter just pay you directly. The best thing to do as far as granting access is to create a group, deed the land to the group and give the renter permission to set the parcel as home, terraform the land and rez and return objects. Make sure you have at least two people in the group before you deed the land to a group because if the group disbands for having only one member, you will lose the land.

Oh, and make sure only you (the group owner) has the ability to sell the land. Your tenant can have a role as 'Everyone', or create a different role as 'Tenant', but spend some time revising the permissions for this new role carefully before you rent to anyone.
Once you are ready, you can place an add in classifieds (via your profile) to advertise your land for rent. |

Thanks for the info. I have read about people losing land by making mistakes with these transactions.
I have created a group and added my alt as a member so there are two members. I am unclear on the details of deeding land to the group. If I check the box "Owner makes contribution with deed", I take this to mean that the tier will still be under my tier amount and fee, (which I would expect) and the renter pays only rent. Is this correct? Are there any things to watch out for now so that I can sell this parcel in the future when I have no tenant? |

you dont have to 'deed' land to group, setting land to group allows members to 'build' there

I'd like to do the same thing. Is there a way to automate the rental payment?

A rental vendor is useful but good one's aren't cheap so you'd take a hit on your first few weeks rent. However they will allow you to setup automated payments.
I use this one: http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=89924 |
