And then there's me who bought an extra 109k sqm today... I hope it works out for me, I did get it nice and cheap People don't realize that most of the sims on the auction block are ocean lots -- this really shouldn't be affecting the value of green flats, mountain lots etc. All that should really suffer are of course ocean lots and waterfronts. Hopefully people will clue in to this

From: SuezanneC Baskerville Where? Southern continent. Having looked around, there's another 20 sims ready to go up for auction, and a gap that would fit around 90 sims or so, depending on what they do with the coastline. Plenty of waterfront, and looks like a few rivers, but pretty flat also.

How cheap you say

How cheap can you buy these waterfront parcels? I'm in the market for another 2048 sqm but am loath to pay these inflated mainland prices. Just hoping that mainland prices will return to sensible money sooner rather than later

You'll probably need to wait until they get bought by a baron and split up. At the moment, many of them have other things on their minds though

Like how we won't be buying sims from LL for awhile because 95% of us barons feel very deceived by the decision to release this many sims at once and really don't know how much we can trust that the same thing won't occur again in a few days.

How do you feel deceived? Lindens have never said "welp, this is it. No more sims released from now on." Lindens have a history of releasing sims in batches. Nothing new here. The only people who got burned are the flippers and speculators and the "get rich quick" newbies. I'd expect the oldtimer barons have lessened their risk significantly in the last week or two, or reallocated into the relatively unaffected private sim market, anticipating this move. It's been all but telegraphed.

Heh, I think I got there without knowing, by using the land search instead of trying to use the map.
The map works so badly. It's ok for seeing where you already are, but not much use for getting there.

Considering that auction sale prices haven't decreased that much since the news of the release of the new continent, I don't think too many people feel "deceived."

Cristalle, no auctions have taken place since they released the new land. The just made the auctions viewable today. You just sit and watch how much less they go for than they were beforehand. I'm darn glad I didn't buy and auctioned sims today, I'd sure be kicking myself.

Reece, I've been bidding and participating in the auctions for the last few days and "got caught holding the bag" on one parcel at 13.5L when news of the new continent broke. I have not observed a cessation of the auctions, and have seen new plots keep surfacing. I have noticed, however, that people are less inclined to go to 13 on the non-full sim plots. I certainly am not inclined to go there anymore. So a moderate adjustment is happening with the auctions that I have seen.

Oh I for one am sooooo glad to see all this new land coming out. In the process, I'm hoping more than 1 greedy lil land baron gets nailed in the keester on this heheheh..
Good days are fast approaching gang. Hold off on land purchases a little longer and watch them plummet a few more L$ per m2 !!

Care to show me the contract with LL Land Barons have that gives them any right to complain about the amount of land that LL does or does not release. The amount of land flooding the market is in part caused by Land Barons hiking the price, if they get caught out by it then that is their own greedy fault. Oh Barons will quit, LL won't have anyone buying at auction, etc,etc...don't think so, someone else will just come along and take their place.

And how do you call the one coming to replace the land barron? Small and tiny land barron? You can call it as you like, but someone will play this role even for a small margin. As for speculation in land market, it happened in one extend because of the shortage of the mainland land provided by lindens. That is the main reason. If some thought that is easy money without risk, then here it comes the answer. Now with so much new land released and more coming in short time, LL will bring down the market to quite cheap levels. If those land barrons will dissapear because they took a high risk and loose, believe me, there will be some more that will try to buy and sell land for a small profit. It happens everywhere. And they will be called again Land barrons.

From: Brazil Comet And how do you call the one coming to replace the land barron? Small and tiny land barron? Read what I said, If the current land barons go broke, someone will replace them, ie new land barons. Yes the apparent shortage in land gave Land Barons an excuse to hike the prices, but if you ever looked at the entire map there was never a true shortage. I'm willing to bet that if the current crop of Land Barons didn't get crazy with the prices that this land release would of been slower and done in a more orderly manner.

Geeky, I didn't disagree, i just added my comments. it is not written anywhere that you are a land barron and nobody else can be.

Has it occurred to anyone that maybe Linden Labs buys their servers for sims in big batches to save costs, and then wants to get them into circulation as soon as possible to increase their profit? This massive panic might be an overreaction. Come on, do you all think they're going to release 40 sims per day every day for infinity??
Don't blast me because I'm fairly new. I've read my history.
