LL Job Seekers: Have you ever received a thanks or even acknowledgement of applying?

After the SL population was enthusiastically invited by Philip Rosedale to apply, I know of several folks who have sent resumes and CVs to LL. Two that I know personally were big-time software types with the skills I believe they were looking for.

The software dudes sent the resumes in a few weeks ago, yet never received a "Thank you! We received your resume and it does not currently fit our needs...yada, yada."

Has anyone ever heard back after they sent in a resume?

I know several that applied, and haven't heard of anyone who has had a response yet.

I didn't apply... don't have the knownlegde for that... (but luckily I am good at other things). I have now already some years my current job as sales woman, business woman, account manager (or whatever is the correct name for it in English).

Anyway, I know from the time that I was looking for a job that it is not that uncommon to hear nothing from a company when you applied there for a job.

I get a little pissed off when I hear about the way Volunteers' applications are given so little respect, since they will be WORKIN FOR FREE IN A VIRTUAL WORLD...excuse me!?

Well, maybe they get a lil extra stiped, but I think even that has been wiped out. I might bring this up at the next Town Hall.

@Xio -- Pretty sure they're talking about the recent 'We need people to help us at LL with the stuff that makes the world run' comment from Philip at the last town hall. They're wanting people who know rl programming and software development, not just volunteers to be liasons.

I applied for a full-time position at LL - one that I am fully qualified for. I got back a very simple form letter by e-mail, and nothing since then.

It's been my experience that one gets a Thank you After one has been Interviewed for the Position. If you never made it past the applications level, don't expect one.

Ah. That. Even worse! LL reminds me of an ISP I used ta work for that went under because the "movers and shakers" did sloppy things like this...

Obviously LL needs more staff...not only "at the bottom", but at the top levels as well!

It might be a little different for the positions I am used to applying for, but I have generally received some sort of response from applications. Even the automated responses are better than nothing. I might be spoiled. :)
