Is there a way to map your movement keys to other keys? Say I want to turn with "Q" and "E" instead of "A" and "D?"

If not, why not?

I would guess you could make any changes you want by altering your keys.ini file in your SecondLife\app_settings folder. I haven't tested it though.

Yes, you can do that there, well you could 6 months ago. Not sure how stable it would be now. lol

The worst that can happen is that you change them and have to reinstall SL.

Just make a copy of the keys.ini file before editing it. If you screw something up replace the screwed up one with the copy. This should keep you from having to reinstall SL as a result of the screwup.

I hate the way that the left and right arrows change from pivot to slide when you enter mouselook, so from time to time I have replaced

FIRST_PERSON LEFT NONE slide_left
FIRST_PERSON RIGHT NONE slide_right

with

FIRST_PERSON LEFT NONE turn_left
FIRST_PERSON RIGHT NONE turn_right

The problem with this is having to do it every time you install SL, which on a bad day can be more than once a day, and is at least once every two weeks. The keys.ini file format is pretty stable though, so once you get a mapping you like, you can save that somewhere that SL won't mess with and overwrite the keys.ini file after every install.

Or you can modify the shortcuts that start SL so they run a batch file which overwrites the keys.ini file every time you start SL and then runs SL.
