I'm not sure of an answer for what you have asked, other than perhaps it can't be done. I've opened the client and started poking around in preferences and ran across something .... rather odd.

Click the about button at the bottom of the preferences menu then scroll through all the thank you's. Last line is not exactly the type of thing you'd find in most software's about box.

Someone out there likes the Hoff :) Wonder who it could be? Perhaps Philip L is a Hoff fan, who knows :)

Peace

AFAIK it always shows the last avatar that was logged in with that client, its only the password you can not have it remember. HTH :)

I have found where it is stored on the Macintosh version. It's probably stored in a similar spot on the Windows version. You could just go into that file and manually erase the name when you're done, or maybe write a script to do it automatically.

On the Macintosh the file is:
~/Library/Application Support/SecondLife/user_settings/settings.xml

It is stored in two parts, First Name and Last Name are stored separately. If you remove the first and last names from that file, then when SecondLife is restarted, the name fields are empty in the logon screen.

This might work.

Rather than log in with your own name try using a made up one. It wont log in, of course, but the fake name might show up next time you run the program.
