Do the owners of land get rewarded for having large amounts of traffic on their land?

Property owners used to reap healthy cash rewards for Traffic (aka Dwell), but that was nerfed many moons ago.

These days, high traffic numbers are coveted by some for their ranking on the Popular Places list. Venues that appear there get that extra jolt of free advertising within the 'Search' menu.

Additionally, some folks use the traffic numbers as a guide when shopping. If three locations are selling the same thing, but two of them have 0 traffic - many folks will visit the location with higher traffic on the assumption that it must be popular.

Rumor has it, that Linden is working on revamping the traffic system, and thus further remove some of the theoretical advantages listed above. How they'll do that, is anyone's guess - but you can be certain that there will be unhappy folks with whatever change may come.

Or the one with less traffic because I hate waiting an hour for everything to load and then being lagged to death

Yes i never go to the top 10 they are just filled with campers
if you search skip the popular places its all false info anyway
