Yesterday, the sound on my Second Life client stopped working. No UI sounds, no object sounds, no streaming music. In the preferences it is not set to mute. All the volume sliders are turned up. The sound on all other applications on my computer works just fine. So the problem is with Second Life. I have had this problem with both the regular client and the First Look client. I have tried deleting and reinstalling both, didn't help. I am running a Mac Pro with Mac OS 10.4.8 Tiger (the latest version available at the time of this post). Has anyone else had this problem? Were you able to fix it?

I get it all the time on the PC side, only way i've found to get things back is to reboot the pc. have tried updating drives and quicktime, nothing helps. Would be nice to get this fixed. Oh yea and if you let it go for awhile after the sound dies SL will crash eventually..sent in a few crash reports on that too. If I don't turn on music streams ever I seem to not have this problem but that's not a very good solution.

Usually happens to me when I turn off the speakers.

From: JamesReese Eddy The sound on all other applications on my computer works just fine. That does not sound like the speakers are turned off.

This happened to me a while back. Cleared the cache. Deleted all the SL-related preferences. Re-installed SL completely fresh. (And don't think it wasn't fun getting all my settings back just the way I like them).
Nothing helped. I also tried deleting all the sound settings from the OS. That didn't work.
Then one day, it auto-magically fixed itself. I don't know what happened, other than my stone-deaf silent SL was suddenly full of sounds, wonderful joyous SL sounds - keyboard clicks and spatialized wind!
I chalked it up to yet another mystery of the second-universe that mere avatars were not meant to understand.

If your speakers are turned off, wouldn't that affect all applications and not just Second Life?
