Until the server is reset a lot of the scripts will still be running, potentially.

Broccoli Yup, without laggy casinos the mainland is free once more for .... the constuction of laggy shopping malls and dance clubs!!! WOOT!! Gosh, they are so much better, and so safe and inviting for consumerism. Maybe some nice corporation will buy up all the cheap land left over from the casinos and build a really nice... corporate something or another. I feel better already!!! Thanks LL for making the world safe for shopping malls!! **End Sarcasm** |

I can interact with all the corporate brands I want out here, why would I want to do the same thing in SL that I can do in RL?
IMHO it sort of defeats the purpose of even being in SL.
As SL becomes more and more like RL, there is less and less reason to be in SL.
Why come to a virtual world to experience the very same things that you experience in the real world?

Just messing with you, Tomas...actually I agree with your point. But pretty obviously a lot of people do not, or we wouldn't have nearly so much of those things in SL. I think there has to be a balance...things you can't do in RL (fly, teleport, have an elf or a furry for a friend...or be one yourself) and RL things that maybe you can't do as often as you'd like in RL, or that are too expensive for you in RL. Just last night, I was looking at a big screen TV/media center in an SL shop. (My neighbor has one, and it's cool, so I was thinking about buying one for myself). Then I thought, OMG, what am I doing? I'm here in SL to get AWAY from being a TV couch potato. Why would I want to bring an old-fashioned form of entertainment into my Second Life...which is the form of entertainment that's REPLACED television?? |

I can't wait for the casino next door to go away. Then I can set up my scripted computer that plays 3rd Life. That way I can sit on my computer playing a game where I sit on a computer playing a game where I fly around and stuff!  But yeah, the loss of casinos won't make too much of a dent to the "crappy build" problem. Like the guy said above there's still shitty malls and clubs galore. Actually I haven't seen a casino in a while because the things I search for don't really ever bring up casino...there's no "cyberpunk" casino or "aircraft" casino. I'm just waiting to see the land prices drop!

Search for something like "Goldrush" (popular camping casino sites), they were all operational when I checked last night... today, the lands are completely barren!

More things are poofing by the hour.
A search for "Las Vegas" under Places this morning revealed almost 50 matches, now, only 4!
And also about the previously mentioning of AR'ing. I just had idea for getting rid of some of the Ad Farms! I am sure some of them advertise Casinos....
