I have a friend in SL who is in need of a "Home" to land in when entering SL. She is recently "unpartnered" (divorced) from someone and now has no place to "set home" to.
A little history first. She is my very first friend in SL and we met at an "info hub" we both set as home when we came to SL (over a year and a half ago). I bought "first land" and we were "roomies" for quite some time. During that "roomie" period she could set her home to my land with no problems...........I had made her an owner back then. When she partnered with her (now) ex she quit my group to get out of the ownership. No problems so far. But now I want to give her rights to set home again........it won't work.
I've made her "owner", had her wear her owner tag, asked her to quit, reinvited her, made her an owner again, relogged, had her relog..............about 4 times each step. It won't let her set home on my land!!!
Why? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

Land needs to be deeded to a group for people to be able to set it as their home.

Hi, I had this same problem and did indeed have to deed my land my group to allow members to set home there.
But do remember that if you sell land deeded to a group, the members of that group all receive an equal portion of the proceeds from the sale.

And also that if owner they can set the land for sale........ as well as benefit from the sale.

Deeded to group... however you don't HAVE to make her an owner to allow her to set home to there.

If you uncheck the accounting ability for the role you assign the person to I believe that in the event of a sale the proceeds would NOT be divided equally and all would go to the owner. I believe that to be case anyway, perhaps someone could verify that.

Form a group (get an alt for yourself and make them an owner, so you always will have the minimum two required members to maintain a group, and won't forfeit land if she leaves your group). Deed your land to the group. Then make her a group member. Put her in the "everyone" category" and go through the various settings to check and uncheck the privileges you want her to have. Note - you don't want her to have the privilege to abandon or sell your land! Under the pay group liabilities option, turn that feature off for her. That way she won't get billed for any land ads you might take out, and if group land is sold, she will not receive 1/2 of the money. Make sense? If you have more specific questions about settings, post them in here. You will get lots of explanations and advice. Princess Ivory
