Are you on wireless or hardwired? Do you use a router? Did you change any firewall settings?

Your system specs, amount of ram, type of processor, speed, operating system, video card, amount of video ram, wired, wireless, router brand, etc.
Name of antivirus, firewall, anti-spy, any other anti-malware programs.
Version of video drivers.
The more information you provide the better chance you have that a reader can solve the problem.

I stumbled around my computer a little more, and discovered something I somehow managed to miss repeatidly....when I opened ALL PROGRAMS and really looked at it..I discovered that I had these...Secondlife...secondlife2...secondlife3...secondlife4..I have no clue how I did that, but I did. For the past few days I was using my desktop icon ( which is what I have always used ) to log in. When i deleted the secondlife..2thru4 and used the first one, I was able to log in with no problem. Now I shall go through my computer even deeeper to see what the hell I did to get so many copies of the secondlife link..*shakes head* AFTER I take a few Advil......

it almost always boils down to user error/ignorance

Not to disparage the OP, but anyone reading this (especially those that love to blame LL for everything) should note there was a) nothing wrong on the server side, b) no way for anyone at LL to troubleshoot such an issue, c) ended up being the users fault.
Having worked in various forms and positions of tech support (hardware/software/retail/etc..) about 99% of the time most problems are caused by the person calling in. We may be able to help them in some cases (especially if the situation comes up often), but that doesn't mean it wasn't the customers fault.
so ..food for thought eh?

Umm, yea, well... as it turns out, it wasn't my computer at all. The biggest article on the front page of my local newspaper did a story about Time Warner Cable and what they did over the weekend. They did a change over, the internet was still there, but none of us in this area were able to log into all our sites that require passwords. * blushes* The banks here are still suffering..lol.. people are calling them screaming and yelling because they cannot access thier bank info on thier computers. I feel like an ass, but wanted to thank those of you that tried to help....have a great week everyone!
