Hi everyone, I have gotten a bad headache trying to find answers myself, and understanding group land.
my first questions, I own almost 8000m of land. I own 2 other alts I can create a group with. More and more time is being spent in world with my alts, and I want to be able to set land permissions with them. To make the land group owned, is it as simple as creating the group, and in the about land section, checking 'deed land to group'?

Will my main alt still be the only one finacially responsible for the land? The other two alts are not premium accounts.

Is there a chance I will be billed twice in one month, as I think I read others have been?

I am also trying to keep some of this hidden from a partner. Once the land is group owned, I have seen in the 'about land' that it shows which group owns the land. If ym group is 'hidden' from search, can anyone else still check 'about land', see group profile, and see who is within the group, or is it still hidden?

Thanks for any help,

More or less. There's a checkbox I think where you make your tier contribution along with the land deed, which you definitely need to do if this is the first time you've donated land. Basically, you're transferring ownership of the land and a portion of your alotted tier to the group. The GROUP owns the land. Next you're going to have to make sure that your alts have the proper permissions to modify land. You manage this stuff in the Roles and Members tab. Create a new role for the alts, give them all the permissions you need, and presto. Why not just make them all Owners/Officers? Read on.

The person who contributes the tier pays the bills. Your alts will not be charged, and can even be unverified basic accounts and still be members. Only premium members can have/contribute tier. That's the only difference as far as the group goes.

Barring any general LL glitches, no. You're simply transferring ownership to the group, and your alts won't be charged.

I am also trying to keep some of this hidden from a partner. Once the land is group owned, I have seen in the 'about land' that it shows which group owns the land. Even if the group's not listed in search, it will still show in About Land. But here's ONE of several reasons your alts should not be tagged as Owner/Officers even if you give them all group permissions: Any role you create in your group can be set to not list its users in the public group listing. When the show-in-public-listings option is unchecked, only members of the group can see the whole membership list. You should also set the Everyone role to this if you're hiding members in other roles. You cannot hide people in the Owner role (and I THINK this applies to the Officer role as well, but not sure). So basically if your friend didnt belong to the group and checked about land, she'd see the name of the group, and see that you were the owner- but wouldn't see anyone else.

Another reason the alts shouldn't be Owners is you should uncheck the option for their role to receive group credits/liabilities. The reason for this is when you sell group land, the proceeds get split evenly among group members who are elligible to receive group credits. You should make sure that you're the only Owner, and that the Owners role is the only one in your group that receives funds from selling group-owned land.
