So, home teleporting - a thing of the past?

I and all my friends have had this bug for weeks and weeks now, and I've not seen a sign of it in the update fix list, help FAQs or known bugs. We have all submitted bug reports but not heard anything since.

Why can't we set a home teleport point to our own land anymore under the World options? Let me be precise here -- you can *set* the point all right, but you don't actually tp back to it! SL throws you to a random sim from among the ones you've recently visited, or the hub of the sim you are currently in - which is not funny if you just received a 60 second warning on the sim going down and were trying to escape >.<

Is this being looked into, are we the only people with this problem (I find that hard to believe...) or is it a disabled feature we just haven't been advised about?

Sorry for posting in the wrong forum, I wanted to go to Technical but the page wasn't displaying (oh the irony *G*)

If anyone can help me on this one I'd be so grateful, it's a great feature that promptly stopped working almost as soon as I bought my own land >.<

[Oh and before anyone tries to be helpful, YES I can use a stored landmark, but it's a lot quicker and simpler to use a kb shortcut, ne?]

All I can say is that I've not had that problem.

I haven't had the problem either. Even with all the other bugs I've encountered and there were a lot of them.

And the point of this thread is..? O.o

Hey, I'm so happy for you guys who don't have a problem, really, I am. I'm sure there are hundreds of you. And there are many other bugs reported on this forum or in the update bug fix lists which I have never experienced. We all have different machines and different problems with the game, that seems to be one of the greatest difficulties - in terms of fixing it.

This forum purports to be a medium for residents (and hopefully Lindens) to help one another with problems, not crow about their own lack of difficulties to no helpful purpose :P

Don't make me come after your avies with a red-hot spork...

I've not had the problem as you describe it, but I have noticed since the update that when teleporting home I get the message that the region isnt available, that I'm being redirected. Then, I land where I intended, on what has been my home spot for more than 2 years.

I've chalked it up to the system's equivalent of indigestion. But perhaps there is something more symptomatic going on?

Best I can say is to continue to bug report it. Hopefully it will soon bubble up far enough for some attention.

*grin sheepishly* Well, here's a list of questions that might help.

Are you and your friends who are having this problem in the same region? Or might in regions hosted on the same 'server'?

Are you all in the same region trying to TP to different home regions?

These two will help in identifying if it's the region or just sheer sucky luck. We can rule out the TP home under world being disabled, since I used it earlier today to get back to my home in Disl.

*nods to Jim* I did notice that when trying to TP to Limbo once or twice.

~Are you and your friends who are having this problem in the same region? Or might in regions hosted on the same 'server'?~

Nope - completely different sims.

~Are you all in the same region trying to TP to different home regions?~

Again nope - happens whenever we try to go home, wherever we are and whomever we happen to be with.

And I'm not going with 'sheer sucky luck' either - this NEVER works, and since it does for you (and others) I think we have to start digging a little deeper for a bug.

But thanks for trying to be more helpful ;-)

Thanks to Jim (posted above) too, but yeah, I don't get your problem either - seems to be two different issues in the same general area!

Few things for you to try. I don't have a problem with it either so I can only offer suggestions.

Clear cache and relog? I know this gets suggested alot with different problems, but it also corrects alot of problems, including ones you wouldn't thing it would.

Change Home location? Maybe the home location got screwed up and it just needs a refresh. Try different sims if simply resetting doesn't work.

Reinstall SL? This may not help with this particular problem, but it's worth a shot if you can't think of anything else to try.

I just tested inworld setting new Home points in a few different sims, incase it was a problem with new Home points, but worked fine.

Hope it starts working again soon for you and your friends.

Ask Live Help, I think someone mentioned it as a bug in the Live help Channel.

Make sure the teleport routing isn't blocked on the access tab of the land properties.

(Edit) The teleport blocked setting is on the options tab.

I've had this problem for a while, I've contracted lots of people, and nobody seems to know how to fix it or care enough to look into it.

I live on Furu and yes, I have had this problem since the download. It does not put me in another sim but it does teleport me to a different location on my own land. Very strange, I get a message that says it can't teleport me to my home location. It happens all the time now. I was going to change my home location next time I was in SL just to see if that didn't fix the problem. I'll let you know if that works.

I've been having a similar problem, with teleport scripts and save landmarks both working poorly in my home sim (Hundertwasser). They seem to work okay elsewhere. Home location is working, but I've noit set it in ages.

I have had my Home position get changed, a couple times. It put me in a shopping mall.

One thing to check, is your land group owned? if so, you have to allow set to home now w/the new group functions. I have a newbie network and it has always been set to my group, but not group owned, and people were always able to set home there, but after the new group improvements they could not. I had to go into group and enable that option under abilities. I think its somewhere in parcel management, called Allow Set to home or something. I can check when I'm inworld again.

I have also been having trouble w/teleporters since the attack of the evil party hats *just what I like to call it* and I had to trash all my teleporters, which I made w/a free script, but still it took me time to set up new ones.

Then there was the issue of people just walking along minding their own business, and then suddenly floating away, or flat out being launched straight up in the air at my place. Some weird things going on for sure. There are no foreign prims on my land, so it's not some sort of attack, it's just a weird thing that was happening, and still may be happening on occasion.
