Alright, y'all bear with me here a bit, because I am new, and still a newby, though my avatar is now looking first rate.

But, where are the hot spots? Like, the populated cities, the places where all the hustle and bustle is and where there are lots of peops?

I've been to dozens of places in my last few days and most places have a small handful of people here and there and other than those few people, they are like ghost towns.

I must have some bird in me, because I, like the birds, am a communal type of person - I wanna be where the action is!

be more specific, what are you looking for?

Clubs? Dancing? Groups? Classes? Stores?

Welcome to SL, the largest virtual ghost town ever.

The grid is mostly empty most of the time.

Try searching for events that interest you. Those should have the highest concentration of people.

You're going to find SL is laid out slightly differently from RL.

There are no zoning laws, or needs in SL, so anything is built anywhere.
It also means there are no real 'centres' unless preplanned.
If you just want to go where lots of people are, look around the World Map for lots of green dots, or look st Popular Places

And even those spots are ghost towns now and then

yes, in the ingame search look for events.
A average sim can't hold more then 40 people at a time anyway. So you wont be seeing places that hold hundreds of ppl. There is some good clubs, nice beaches and other places that are well populated. If you keep exploring Sl you will come past them yourself.. or find a buddy to explore with :-)

One important thing to keep in mind is just because a place is deserted when you go through doesn't mean it wont be bustling an hour later. At the clubs where I have worked there will be a great crowd when we had events going on. Other times of day it may be busy or may be empty, depending on if residents decide on their own to just come have fun on our dance floor.

hot spots

i agree with Bradley. I found a couple of clubs playing Indie music and had a lot of fun chatting with cool, funny people, only to go back later and find the clubs completely empty.

SL can feel very empty and sad sometimes...then you strike up a conversation with a fellow wanderer and make a good friend. Then you get attached, then you're miserable when they aren't on, then you'll realize you are lost in your own imagination (heh heh, SL psychosis).

Sometimes it seems like other people have formed their cliques and you will never be an insider, but I think that's a mirage, SL scenes are always changing. The thing to do is log out if the fish aren't biting, don't waste hours searching for action if it ain't happening.

Sometimes I just want to go somewhere and people watch. I like to go to Freudian Slip when they have live music. You can just plunk yourself on one of the psychedelic cushions, listen to the singer and scan the crowd. I check out people's profiles and look at their "picks" for future travel ideas.

Be sure to check out the new Greenies sim.(greenies in search) Your bound to find interesting people wandering around there. And let me know if you find happiness in SL, because it's proven illusive for me!

The Sun might be a good place to start:)
Local active volcanoes are also a good bet.:D

Yes it amazes me where is everyone. When I log I look to see how many in SL often 40K+, maybe this weekend it will be 50K as it goes up each weekend.
