I have a song i want to use in SL how can I download into world for my use Do you mean download into SL as a sound that you can just play any time anywhere? Or do you mean stream into SL, like music? Downloading as a sound into SL I think, tho not sure, is just for WAV files, and generally small ones. I don't think LL wants to store people's MP3 collections on their asset servers. ![]() For streaming music, you will need to have some land, and adjust the media settings to point to a shoutcast or other streaming server. This is a huge topic, you could start by searching the forums for 'shoutcast' or 'streaming'. You could always search in game for a DJ, too. I'm sure some may be willing to answer some questions about streaming and such. Bane |

For importing sounds:
To upload sounds, open the File menu and select Upload Sound. Valid sounds are any .WAV file in standard PCM format, 16-bit/44.1 kHz/mono or stereo (which will be converted to mono anyway), less than 10 seconds in length. (9.99 seconds is fine, but 10.0 will fail to upload.) Sounds cannot be saved as 8-bit, 22.05 kHz, or any other frequency. Sounds in other formats can be converted in most sound programs. An example of a free quality converter is r8brain. There is currently no support for compression formats such as MP3. See How do I add streaming music to my land? for an alternative solution. The above is from the knowledgebase, http://secondlife.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=142 . Some folks do chop entire songs in the proper wav format into short wav files and upload them all. One program to use to cut up wav files, and many other sound related things, is called Audacity, free, available at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ . There are scripted players for songs made in this chopped up wav file manner; some are available at Yadni's Junkyard, among many other places. The streaming mp3's that require control of a parcel's media url are described in the knowledgebase at http://secondlife.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=083 . A short snippet from there: Setting Up Streaming Music: 1) Right-click your parcel of land and choose About Land. 2) Click on the Options tab. 3) In the Music URL textbox, type the full URL to the streaming source. (e.g.: http://somafm-sc.streamguys.com:8066 ) 4) Enjoy! Note re the above: enjoyment is optional. If you rent land, you might want to contact your landlord to see if you can set the media url url on your rented parcel. _____________________
