My partner and I where thinking about having a residence on the ground floor and a skybox business. Is this possible? We would like to know before doing this so we know what we can/cannot do. Thank-you.

Of course when you own land you can build whatever you like on the land as long as it's allowed on the sim your on
ie: some are just residentail some are just commercial some are mixed but as long as the land supports the amount of prims of course

Ditto....as long as the land you are on allows commercial stuff.....then it's no problem. Just don't forget to set your business landing point in the skybox and not on your residence front doorstep! That could get a wee bit inconvenient for ya.

When looking at land, if you will be renting it from another resident, be sure to read the "Covenant" tab in the about land window carefully to be sure that mixed use is allowed.

It depends on where your land is.
If its on the new linden homes continent, I believe skyboxes are not allowed there... (no idea why - and not sure, just what I have heard).
If its anywhere else, more than likely allowed.
But do consider that you will always have less privacy the lower you build, and building at ground is pretty much an open invitation to people watching you. Especially if you have a business above it that people will already be TPing to.
I would suggest flipping your plan - put the business at ground and the home in the sky, way way above the business - perhaps above 3000m.
