I know this would probably fit the technical forum better, but I wanted resident advice more than needing advice to fix this problem, so I thought I'd post here.
I know there's been a million threads about this, but it's regarding prims that when you 'take' or 'delete' them don't disappear from your prim count, just become invisible and unable to be interacted with.
I just had this problem last night; fortunately, my estate owner was able to come on today and restart the sim, and that fixed the problem. However, I'm in middle of building something, and I'm scared to continue. I don't want to have to ask to have the sim restarted every 2 seconds. I really need to finish building, but I'm not looking forward to have to deal with this bug again.
So..is there anything I should watch out for? Any predictable steps that cause this that I should avoid? I know it happens after taking or deleting things, but I obviously can't abandon those tools. Should I fear that since it has happened to me once, it's probable that it will happen again on the same sim, or is it not sim related, just random? If it's probably because of the sim, I feel like I'll have to do everything at a sandbox and then transfer it over, but that will be a HUGE pain.
I don't know what to do, I feel like not building until this is fixed but I really need to finish this. Any ideas?

Similar thing happened to me last night with just practising the edit controls on a single prim. Something happened as it rezzed and it came up with a blank owner. I can move it and resize it .. but I can't take/delete it ... so now Bagg End has a single piece of ply stuck in its lawn. How are they going to build Ancient Rome in SL if this hapapens?

I've got a huge invisible immovable 288 prim monster on some of my land too.... found a copy at 0,0,0 but can't do anything with it... very annoying. But I guess they'll be restarting all the sims after today's maintenance?

I know it happens after taking or deleting things, but I obviously can't abandon those tools. You can however minimise your use of them. For instance, instead of deleting a prim you can also 'recycle' it by resizing, reshaping and retexturing it to be the next 'building block' you were going to create anyway. I know, not really a solution, a bit of a pain in the neck actually, but minimising deletions is also minimising your risk of getting stuck with invisible unmovable prims.

Check at 0,0,0 and delete the junk that's down there. It can take a few tries, but it usually works.

I was having a similar issue last night while the Lindens were ferreting about with the sim servers, I deleted a part of a screen, which wouldn't disappear, I could still edit it, so I moved it out of the way, it became ownerless but still remained, later I came back and walked into a 'phantom wall' I couldn't see it even with Highlight Trans, or with checking objects on the land, but I couldn't also walk through it, now it blocks the walkway through my shop LOL....
