Post RE: crime in SL. Where did it go?

3 or 4 days ago there was a thread started by a reporter (as I recall), asking people to share thier experiences with crime in SL. I responded to it as did a few other people. The next day I went to look for the thread and it was gone. The record of my response is missing from my posting history as is the record of what a few other people wrote, missing in their posting histories.

The only other time I have seen something like this, posts not just locked but totally disappearing, was when someone posted too much information about an exploit. Nothing of that sort was posted in the few responses that I saw, but perhaps something got added later that I did not see.

Does anyone else have any idea what happened to this thread?

It made the Lindens sad.

It was BALEETED. And then the mods went back to playing Trogdor.

Was this posted in RA? I'm presuming you've tried the marvelous search function. I don't remember seeing it actually.

Maybe it was deleted. I saw it too. Perhaps it way way back in the back.
If you posted it you could look in your threads but sometimes I have noticed this vanishes too.

The thread was in RA. Personally I thought it was muck raking but I didn't think they'd delete it on that basis, there's plenty of muck raked here.

Maybe we can send an Investigative Reporter to look for the missing Investigative Reporter

That is odd. I've never seen a situation (except when it comes to exploits) where a post is fully gone, usually you can find it via post history even when it has gone to Linden Review....

Alleged crime. If it named names it would be consistent with what has been going on that it got deleted.

The subject can be about crime.

Only specific crimes would be alleged, right?

Yes but what I meant is that a thread asking for people to relate their experiences is likely to illicit responses about specific alleged crimes and potentially incite people to name names.

Please note this original thread has been dredged up from last Nov. 2007. It is about the only other time I am aware of a thread disappearing with no explanation.

The original missing post was in RA and was as I recall a request by someone who said he was doing research for an article he was writing about crime in SL. He asked people to share with the forum any experiences they had with scam's or crime in SL. I believe he asked all contributers to avoid naming names, etc. I contributed a post about my first experience with a con artist in SL when I was less then a month old. A few other people contributed comments about some problems they had experienced.

When I last saw the "Crime in SL" thread all the posts were pretty tame, one contributer expressed a concern that it not become a "how to scam in SL" tutorial. I was looking forward to seeing what other people added to the thread when I checked for it a couple of days later it was gone. I used the forum search and could not find it.

I realized it could have been moved to another forum and looked for it but it was nowhere to be found.

I searched my own posting history and it was gone. I searched the posting history of two other people who I remembered had posted in the thread and thier posting history also did not show any sign of it.

The only other time I can recall when an entire thread was deleted was when it described an exploit. I still have no idea what happened to this thread. Since we were never told it was closed or deleted, I assume there is nothing wrong with starting a thread asking what happened to it.

Why am I thinking "Chris Hanson"??
