I was looking round some of the newest land on the New Continent, areas that still only appear on the world map as grey sims when you zoom in. I found one of those tell-tale long strips of land owned by Governor Linden with clumps of ferns growing on it. I even found a plot of land adjoining it which was quite cheap so I bought it!

These Linden roads make no sense to me. All they do is create jagged parcels that are preyed upon by spammers.

Well they still provide a little cushion on one side for the claustrophobic. I would use the jagged pieces for tree planting.

From: Rockwell Ginsberg These Linden roads make no sense to me. All they do is create jagged parcels that are preyed upon by spammers. I've seen some cute roadside stores (disclosure: I have one) and other builds on them, but those are mostly in the older sims where people used to drive back in the days when I hear that vehicles actually worked properly. I would have liked to have been around in those days. I like flying along the roads to explore, though - you know you aren't going to bounce off a ban line flying above a Linden Road.

I'm a huge fan of roadways, they form natural boundaries for parcels so you end up with more fluid shapes instead of those endless boring rectangles. Plus I love those huge LL builds that cross multiple sims and stretch way into the distance in both directions.

It gives you the confident that on one side of your property, you will not have anyone build anything other than a nice road (if LL do that soon). I think we should really ask LL when they are going to lay these roads for the new SIMs. They should really let a group of volunteers build those lands. It will make the SIM look a lot nicer and it will also help avoid those 16sqm ads (if people find roads useful). Any idea how we can get LL to lay the road fast?

Stalk Guy Linden? He keeps a list. I'm hoping they fix the road that vanished in Quat after the last update first though. I was traumatized. Perhaps someone could propose on the new JIRA thingie that LL consider hiring work crews to lay some asphalt? There's a hella lot of sims that need some roads.

I agree too In addition I am particularly fond of the roads as paths to follow when I tour in a hot air balloon... no chance of hitting ban lines And as to the Lindens building actual road... I see those not 'paved' as just a well traveled path

Cool!! I'm going to try to pick up a lil road side parcel and put up a garage for all my vehicles.

I love roads! My shop is on a road in Rosieri, and I love, love, love it!
My house is on a road, too, in Azure Islands (said road created by Adam Zaius and Nexus Nash).
A road is a wonderful thing! It's great to be able to walk through the neighborhood! (Not fly around, trying not to intrude on anyone, and run into unfriendly ban lines and security orbs right and left.)
I have a friend who worked on an Infohub for the Lindens and was keen to help them lay down roads, clean up trash, and suchlike. He volunteered his services, but apparently they will have none of that.

I hope they never pave those "roadways." I consider them "greenways." I particularly like plots of land where a two of the rights-of-way cross at sharp angle; it is possible to build something nice at the intersection and have a view of many meters--a view that you don't have to purchase. It's like having a little park next door.

I love my home on the LL "Great Wall" in the northern continent. I stare up and down the road with as much enjoyment and sort of peaceful feeling as if it were a water feature. I've been considering whether it would be feasible to put together a vehicle with an auto-pilot feature that would try to follow these roadways/greenways- that would let you ride along in mouselook, like the little tour vehicle does on Svarga. Kinda ambitious for a first script attempt, will try a couple other things first. Wouldn't that be a fun vehicle, though? Maybe one could make a sort of horse that would do that. Maybe it could be smart enough to hop or fly over the sim boundaries slooowly.

It' is sad they would release a whole continent without planning a good road system, a proper gridded city/suburban sim areas, it is obvious from that descision that LL has no interest in making vehicles work again. And not sure how they still indend on getting Toyota & GM to buy sims when their products here are useless. I realise that some sims do not want roads for access, but I am just waiting for some one to start a sim full of cube apartments where you share 4 walls with 4 neighbours (and possibly floor/ceileng) and can only access your place via teleport. Roads would be nice to spread buildings out a bit and so you know if you are crossing land borders

Wow such support for the road system, and I though I was the only one who like them.

I jump for joy whenever I find a road. Even though any vehicle I've tried so far is abominable, the scenic break is very welcome. They aid orientation and are a great aid to just cruising around enjoying the scenery. If I wander more than a few plots from my home lot in any direction I'm lost! Roads make sense. It's nonsense there isn't a world-wide network.

Some of my fondest memories of my early SL days were flying along the road in Furness, Grizedale etc, seeing what was there- even roadside stores were interesting, and did that guy ever finish his Greco-Roman homestead etc. I prefer riverside though

Some time soon I may be looking for roadside land... on a finished road, not some greenspace.
After all, how can you build a 60's Drive-In, if nobody can... drive in?

Max Nice idea Max! might even tempt me to buy a Harley Spurs a question: can we not drive on unmade roads anyway?

From: Strife Onizuka Wow such support for the road system, and I though I was the only one who like them. You're not alone. About a month ago I was bored and in my random wanderings I found a Linden road and I was lucky enough to find a place where I could rez my vehicle. It's been pretty hard to travel around, expecially at the sim crossing, anyway I had a good time and I would love to have more roads...

Get a car with mouselook steering. I recommend the Dominus... make sure SimLine is turned on and set it in cruise. Mouselook will easily keep you on the road... or on one side of the road if you're picky enough. SimLine seems to work, at least in my experience, to keep you from sailing into the Nethervoid. Cruise so your finger doesn't die trying to drive miles and miles. A few weeks ago, I drove across the original main grid and the continent north of ANWR by roads and didn't get watersimmed, or crash out for hours on end. My passengers had to relog every few dozen sims, but nothing particularly bad. I totally support roads. I love walking along roads on foot, and flying along roads as a Birdworx/Grendel parrot. I don't really care if they're greenways, paved, or cobblestone.. a safe path is a safe path. Oh, and I would *love* an autopilot tour vehicle that automatically followed the road networks.

I think more roads would be a good idea. I started building sidewalks in my village, and have talked a couple of neighbors into letting me connect to them and continue the sidewalks - we are all finding that people follow them to see where they go, and we generate more traffic for each of us that way.

Excellent news! now this is progress! How many of us are tempted to follow paths? They can be so much more scenic than simply flying. A lot of creators put paths round their own little area but wow! if they joined up we'd be really cooking!

From: bilbo99 Emu How many of us are tempted to follow paths? I don't know how many, but I know I would. Yesterday I happened to be on the Caledon sims and not only I boarded the local train, but I took a long walk on the streets. I like Caledon streets, at night.
