Howdy! I'm a Noob here at Second Life. I'm loving the experience though...
On my first night I visited a place called "Svarga". It was recommended in this book on Second Life that I purchased at Barnes & Noble. I was REALLY impressed. I became a paid member of Second Life simply because of how beautiful Svarga was.
Today I tried to go back, but it doesn't show up when I search under "places"! I tried to teleport back to it via a landmark I somehow saved, but still couldn't reach it. Anyone know what happened? I hope it's not actually "gone". It was amazing!

P.S. I tried to visit the "Crooked House", also mentioned in the book. That's not showing up either!

It is still there, just not listed in Search. You can still teleport there from the map.

SecondLife is an ever-changing environment and the books you might buy at Barnes & Noble will become out-dated over time.
Additionally, I've found that the one book I've seen out on the subject of SecondLife is rather biased towards a few persons and very limited in scope.
There are, however MANY absolutely gorgeous places in SL to explore. Try Sanctum Sanctorum (THINK I got the name right). I have nothing to do with the place, but it's absolutely amazing.
There are also a lot of cool 'themed' sims that people spend time role-playing in. Tombstone, Midian City, Karamoon--all well done places.
There are so many great places in SL...and so much variety to see...you'll never run out of stuff if you just pop open search and pick a keyword.

If the Crooked House is the shifting, multi-room one, it's in a sim called The Future - at approximately 125,128,471. Plenty of other really amazing things to see in that sim, too.

Don't forget the Caves at Rua, Lost Gardens of Apollo and the Pothealer Adventure at Numbkalla (sp?). BTW, Svarga is still there! Also check out Lauk's Nest... SO many cool places!

Don't forget Snapzilla with their listing of cool places to see in SL. I found a lot of neat places using this: http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/Snapshots.aspx?type=tag&tag=coolplaces

Just a thought, maybe we could start a new sticky here.... "Cool Places to Go in SecondLife". I'm always stumbling upon a gem somewhere that deserves accolades...

I have to say, Svarga and Gardens of Bliss are tops on my list, for "nature" settings.
Also, Abbotts Aerodrome, to me, is one of the most impressive builds to be found on the mainland.

Svarga wouldn't come up in Search Places for me yesterday, but I could see it when I looked for it via the map search function. Could just be SL acting funky (again.) For all you nature lovers, the SL Botanical Gardens is open even though the sim is still not completely finished http://slurl.com/secondlife/The%20Botanical%20Gardens/193/62/38

I just visted Svarga for the first time on Sunday night. It is gorgeous! If you IM me in world to remind me, I may still have the landmark I can shoot to you.

From: bilbo99 Emu .. and Wales Harbour .. and Gardens of Bliss .. I have not been able to get into Wales Harbor for several weeks. I can TP to the shops there, but when I try to get into the castle it tells me I'm not on the access list. Have they corrected that? I used to love that place.
