Hello Everyone :)

I haven't played SL in a long time (been around since beta). I have tried to log on several times over the past several months but the lag is utterly horrible. I try to move my avatar a couple steps and "if" she moves, she then floats forever... through walls, land, water, etc... Very disappointing. Cannot do a darn thing in game. Have been itching to get back into the game to build again.

I have a 3.0 GHz, 2 Gig ram, GeForce 7800GTX and a 6Mbps internet connection. Not the best but certainly not the worst... I find it hard to believe it's my system or my connection. Is there a setting to check? Thanks in advance for your advice!

Sincerely,

Triona Fairlight

Your system is not that different from mine, with a much better graphics card, and I don't have any problem. So the source of your trouble is more likely a Preference setting or firewall issue.

Try posting this in the Technical Issues forum and I'm sure someone can help you get back up and running.

Try turning everything down in your preferences before logging in, distance at 64, ripple water and all that junk off.

I had the same thing happen today, I was in a new area last night and had my distance turned to 512 and forgot, lol, today I couldn't move.

Try moving to a different region - it could be that the server's hurting.

Try installing and using the FirstLook client, for me FirstLook works much better than the current "stable" release.

Should mention that I experience very little lag normally and my computer specs are certainly not the best...

I Remember a few weeks ago, Lenden's said something about firewall and ports but don't know what it was for a new download. Something to do with your server modem. May be something like this. Said you would know if you needed it or not because it would not work. Wish you the best of luck honey. I would die if I was off that long.

I use First Look, no problems there.

i have a 128 meg Radeon 9200 video card that makes it impossible to move around, i use my onboard 64meg shared nvidia cad and get along fine, . there might be a problem with the compatibility of your video card as you should have plenty of other resources to get by with
