I never tried to do that specifically, but all photos are handled in the same way.

First, you have upload an image as a texture (L$10) and file it in your Inventory (under Textures, for instance). Then you can Select it for your Profile panels.

One "gotcha" though. You need to create the original image with the correct dimensions for the Profile window. Offhand, I don't remember what that would be, so you'll have to check. Crop or resize your photo to match that height/width ratio.

When you upload the texture, it's going to look distorted because SL uses a square format for the single texture display. Don't worry, once it's placed in the Profile box it will stretch out again.

short answer: it's square. crop to 256x256 and upload.
