The Search Continues....

Hello Im pretty new to SL. I've been on for about 2 weeks. Im pretty much happy with my avatar thus far, but I seem to run into a problem. The Search for my hairstyle. Eversince I left help island I have been asking in-game and search for shops that sells Box-braids or cornrolls (male). I see all these awsome designs, but I seem to not find any stores that sell those type of styles.

I decided to ask here in the forums to see if anyone knows where I can buy or copy any (or both) hairstlyes. I dont want to give up. But for all the fun,anime, uber realistic styles that I do see.....I cant find the two that I want.......PLEASE HELP !!! ^___^

Heck, I just my avatar to look somewhat like my RL persona...(Ive been growing my hair the past 2 years)...

I recall seein a male cornroll hairstyle, was kinda longish. The cornrolls met at the nape of the neck and then several hung a few inches. This was back in early 2005. I had a friend that wore it, but haven't seen him in ages. It was somewhat popluar around the club scene at that time, too.

Was thinkin maybe Washu Zebrastripe made it, but just checked and it's not at her place. I'm at a loss, but thought I'd let you know I have seen such. Good luck.

Edit add: I found something you might want to see at Made Men by Rockwell Maltz, dropped you a landmark in world.

Thanks guys Ill check out that store. Hmmm I can see a venture of making certain hairstyles. I would assume by now all types woulda been made by now. Alwell, when I log in world , I definitly check it out!!! ^_^

Male hair ... sigh.

Tried a few that weren't the usual base avatar mousse-mould: ack blegh. Where's the styles for the over-25's? What's so wrong with a Patrick Stewart (very short white fuzz) or a Vinnie Jones (1mm buzz cut)...?

An all over crop made entirely from prims would be a marketing nightmare for hair designers because all heads are different shapes and sizes and too many customers would probably demand a fitting. This isn't so much of a problem for regular (longer) prim hair because the head may eat some of the prim base without anybody noticing. With a close-cut crop, that wouldn't be the case.

Naughty Designs male skins by Lost Thereian do come with cropped hair tattooed onto the head though along with three sets of alpha hair for the top to make it look more realistic. If you're looking for this, Lost really does get close to it.

I recently saw somebody wearing hair so similar to Lost's faux-hawk (just longer and wider) that I thought he'd made it. I was wrong. I'm sure it wasn't a modded copy either. It was alpha hair, not the traditional whipped cream on your head hair, and if anybody knows who is selling that I'd love to hear about it. (:

Thanks, though the problem with skins etc is that one likes to mod about, and sold skins tend to be all locked down...

(ps, that Vinnie. Great footballer, nice bloke to talk to, but... whoever finds him movie parts needs a slapping!)

The prim hair provided with the skins in question is mod/copy. Obviously the tattooed crop beneath is not, but I doubt a more realistic way of achieving that style is possible.

Just a random thought...but do any of the hair designers who specialize in male hair do customs? Have you seen something close to the hair you desire on any body in SL? You could always ask a guy in-world where he got his hair and see if that designer has anything you like, or if they will create it for you.

those hair cuts look cool but are high in primes and cause lagg when everyone is wearing them and all the bling as well
