Hello all. My friend ran into a serious issue that everyone needs to watch out for. She ended up accepting a money-stealing object that continually sells all her lindens to this person. I believe she got it from visiting one of the popular locations, but not sure which. Now shes on the quest for help. Linden Lab removed the Live Chat option, so how does one deal with this terrible issue? She needs to get her money back and get this money-eater device removed.

Can someone explain how can you get serious help from Linden Lab these days? Thank you!

Hello Hiro, unfortunately, I don't think your friend can get their money back. LL doesn't really get involved in resident 'disputes' like that..I don't think. There are a few recent threads like this one, just do a search. Here are 2 very recent ones:

/327/72/191487/1.html

/327/8a/191427/1.html

As was stated in these, a dialogue box pops up first asking if Linden can be taken, and your friend clicked yes. While it's never really the victims fault, try to be careful about things like that and never let an object take money from you unless you know what you're doing, say with a rental system. I can see how someone new might get confused, or maybe accidentally click yes.

One thing your friend can do, which was also suggested in one of the aforementioned threads, is to go to the main page and check their account transactions. It will tell him or her who received the money that was taken from them, as all transaction (Linden and US $) are recorded. Make sure to AR that person.

Also, be sure to report this to the place where your friend obtained the item so no one else gets scammed. I'm really sorry they lost their L but I don't think they can get it back.

Yesterday i also got an object that was trying to steal money.

First of all, don't trust stuff that you get from unknown people.

I reported this object and 3 hrs later a linden contacted me about this object.
Only thing you can do in this situation is to file in a report.

and always read the blue menu's, you always have to say yes when an objects wants to take money.

Or just say no or find object delete and purge item. Then never accept a new item unless you know what and who is giving it to you. I ran into something similar bit ago with a pegasus that is similar to ones a friend gave me but every time I select it I get blue pop asking for donations. After second time I found the item I wanted to keep that didnt do that and the item that was similar I deleted because I figured someone was trying to trick others or make money off someone else's creations because I had no clue who did it first.
