Maybe I'm blind but I can't find anywhere that lists the benefits of having a premium account. Could someone please tell me what's so special about upgrading to premium?

About the only benefits are ability to buy land in the mainland and you get a weekly stipend.
Am I forgetting something? Anyone?

Premium accounts are also supposed to get priority access to the grid if things are getting overloaded... but LL actually has never implemented this at any time yet... and probably never will.

Support will be changing soon, too - premium accounts will get a bit more than basic ones..
