Twice in two days this has happened to me while shopping. I have clicked on an item, to see what it does, and WHAM - all of a sudden I have bought it. This makes me quite leery about shopping. As it never happened before, I'm thinking this may be a bug of some kind.
Anyone else having this experience?

coco While it has not happened to me personally, I did have a customer say this happened to her. I refunded her the money, and hope this doesn't happen too often as this could really get confusing. ~Ari

I had this happen to me once recently as well. It did not make me happy, as it was L$1200 I was not ready to spend.

THat's odd. I wonder how this is happening. WIth the default Left Click setting, people can make a lef-click on an item equate to a Right-Click>Buy or Right-Click>Pay, but you still get a confirmation screen. Have you contacted LL about this? Sounds like a bug, or a scam.

I'm certain it's not a scam. The second guy (it was a 1500 guillotine) refunded me immediately, thank goodness. The first time, it was a set of drapes ($150 and I haven't yet heard from the guy - hope I do). I am not good at remembering how I click what with what finger and which side of the mouse, because I just DO things intuitively more or less, but basically what I was doing each time was just your basic "click on" a thing to see if it does something. Whichever side that is. I had clicked on the drapes to see if they opened and closed. I had clicked on the guillotine to see if it would demonstrate itself. Both times - WHAM, I had bought it. It's complicated because I MAY have had the buy screen up at the same time, or the edit screen. I don't remember. But you know these comments above make me think: Is this maybe something to do with how they changed things in the last update? With what is default, or whatever? And no, there was no confirmation screen. I bug reported it, but I no longer have much faith in sending in bug reports, since they apparently aren't written techy enough to please. In any case, I'm sure not going to click on anything in stores from now on. coco

I am wondering if maybe it's not the new one where you can set an object to sell and that cursor chances and just clicking over it causes a confirmation screen to appear if you want to auto pay that ammount. Then maybe the new focus window thingie along with a keyboard command isn't accidently causing an execution. I could see it happening very easily with all this focus stuff going on. It messes up my camming often. EDIT: Coco what were you doing looking at a guillotine?

Something quite similar has happend to me. I was at BareRose and wanted to buy a nice dress. Actually, i bought it, and it made 2x ka-ching, and suddenly i had it double. And i'm pretty sure i just clicked ONCE. Well, i was lucky that someone from the shop was there to refund me one dress. Never happend to me before....

Never to me but someone shopping in one of my stores said it happened to her, thought it weird but i keep hearing about it lately. also, sometimes whensomeone buys something from me i get a double payment WAY FAST, it wasnt they bought it twice, it was a very fast double payment. I dont know if it is charging these ppl twice and they didnt notice or if the blue "so and so bought" box just wigged out.

It happens when the person's item they are selling has set their selling preferences that way.

This happened to me several times last week. I would buy one item and it would send me anywhere from 2-4 of the same item plus charge me for them. Thankfully the owners of the stores were very helpful and refunded my $.

From: talia Stanwell It happens when the person's item they are selling has set their selling preferences that way. This is not true in all cases as I have shopped from the shops I had issues with last week in the past and never had issues before with them.
It's due to SL bugs, and they are only going to get worse as is already being noticed. I have been in SL for 2 years now and it has been the worst in performance I have ever seen. It's so sad to see SL go downhill and lose the community feel along with the performance issues we see on a daily basis.
It's only a matter of time before it runs into a wall...

Well, I think we have two different bugs going on here:
1. The double purchase - you mean to purchase one, but you end up with two. Sometimes this is because nothing happens, and you click to purchase it again. If you DON'T do that, and just wait, I know that at least sometimes, eventually a note comes to you saying your purchase attempt has "gone stale."
2. The unintended purchase - what happened to me, and no purchase confirmation notice comes up at all.
I know that with the first one, patience can help in at least some cases. But I haven't figured out how to prevent the second one.

Ohhh.... a Prophecy of Doom.... even in big red letters.... I am scared now. Seriously, everytime something happens bad people come up with stuff like that. It is getting old.... seen it so often by now and not only is SL. To the subject.... I bought last two weeks a lot because of the expansion of my land. Nothing wierd of strange happened. Also I bought a lot of new clothes. I suggest to keep an close eye on it and try to catch all the actions done before such a matter happens and then fill a bug-report towards support. Morwen.

I'm not sure it's a bug...but it definitely happens. In my case, I am almost certain it was operator error

I haven't ruled out operator error.
But the fact that it never happened to me before, in the almost two years I've been here, coupled with the fact that it happened twice the first time I tried to shop since the last update, leads me to think it is more likely that something has changed.
But - anything's possible. As I say, I have just started being very careful about what I click on. No longer will I check to see if drapes open, or doors open, or whatnot.

Ok here's something that may be related...
Tonight while literally just standing in my house, someone sent me a snapshot. I clicked outside the window to get out of the IM, and next thing I know, the snapshot is plastered all over my floor. I neither dragged it anywhere nor was I even editing anything. I suspect similar actions caused this and perhaps shopping errors. it's almost as if clicks are too sensitive...they get confused.
Just a thought. This one was not operator error. And it's the second time it's happened to me....
This time, the builder was kind enough to replace my texture. Thankfully.

You may need a new Mouse. your present one may intermittantly be sending out left click signals without your actually clicking (A minor short).
