I tried contacting support but they gave me a very generic reply "sorry we are swamped with questions right now so read these links it might answer you". was totally lame and unhelpful.... Anyway i would like to enable Japanese text support in my SL client. Right now it all appears as SL's equivalent to [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] in chat. I was wondering if anyone here might know. I do not speak Japanese but i see friends using English to Japanese translators. i would at least like to see the text the way it's meant to be displayed. I tried asking one of those friends how they did it but they don't remember. :/

You need to install a font called (arialuni.ttf Arial Unicode). MS used to distribute it for free, and you may be able to find it on mumblemumblemumble, but I think teh official way to get it these days is from the MS Office CD.

On a Mac, if you installed international language support, then Japanese shows up in Kanji on-screen in SL, in chat as well as anywhere else. I installed Japanese and Chinese when I set up my Mac initially, and I see the Japanese text from the English to Japanese translators just fine.

Now, comprehending what they SAY is another matter entirely!

Where's my Kanji to English dictionary?
