What is the difference between checking "share with group" and deeding an object to the group?
I ask because my partner and I are working on a build, and we have a small group. When I create prims and deed them to group, I lose my ability to edit them (I am wearing the right group tag and on our own land.)
This isn't the first time we've noticed this, but I've never understood it. What is deeding intended for, and how does it differ from "share with?"

That is surprising that you can't edit it when it's deed to group. I will have to check my items but I think I can still edit my objects when deeded.
We have had to deed some scripted objects to group to have them work on group land and I understand that some vendors are set up that way because they pay out to a group rather than to an individual.

Deeding is only needed if you want money paid into the object automatically split between the group members. Also, scripted objects that act on the permissions of the land owner (like some security orbs) only work correctly on group land if they are deeded to the group.
Edit: if you are able to edit group objects or not may depend on your group role and the associated permissions.

objects you deed to group are no longer owned by 'you', and take on the inherited permissions you gave the object.
set to group: associate object with group. deed to group: transfer ownership to a group

so does this mean if I am making something and the prim is set to next owner as copy but no mod, and I deed it to group I will not be able to mod it?

If I set it to group will my partner be able to modify it? Or should I set next-owner perms to copy/mod and deed it?
Basically, I'm building and she's texturing, so we both need to be able to work with the same prims.
Edit: We're both co-owners of the group I referred to.
