I used a wood texture from our Library named Mahogony
Shouldn't it be spelled with an A not an O Mahogany

According to Dictionary.com:

mahogany

Is the correct spelling.......not that it matters all that much. :)

Spelling is incorrect but some of our inventory is from residents and many of them don't have English as a first language.

The motto around here USED to be "Your world, your imagination". That should allow for many variations of spelling when naming items.

I've seen other things in the library that are clearly typos. In the "Atoll" textures, there is one thing labeled "aoll" and another labeled "stoll". They've been like that since I started three years ago, so I'm guessing that fixing the little mistakes is not a priority.

Derailing slightly, but do any of the alternative viewers have a chat spell-checker?

That would be a great avatar name... Anotan O'Mahogany

I understand the next release of Emerald will have one; the description is here: http://code.google.com/p/greenlifeemeraldviewer/wiki/EmeraldSpellCheck

Speaking of spelling, when i started SL i got this amazing pair of shoes you could change the colour of by typing in a code. I was over the moon in here 2 days and what a find well I put them on and typed in /1 colour red ... nothing .. /1colour red still nothing ... /1colourred again nothing so i tried a different colour and none worked. I was not happy and getting very angry, at the time i was in skype with a SL friend and he asked what was wrong i said about the shoes. " How are you spelling it" he asked " well how the hell do you think RED" i was not on my best behaviour to him. He then said try color i did and well it worked.

Just shows because we are from different backgrounds sometimes the spelling can be an issue that way

That would be awesome. I sometimes just have Microsoft Word open - put my chat into that and then copy and paste into the chat field.

Othrwizw my chat tend;s too look lleik thiis. Leik I;m really typing with paws.

I think I get too nervous when trying to key into the chat field -- more so when it's with someone I highly respect or am fond of.

http://www.tinyspell.com/ is a good program that is free and works across all programs. It sits in your task bar and makes a ding when you make a mistake

Hmm, the Emerald staff might want to add the LSL function names and such to the default word database.

I think we should just change the speling of the word to 'liek' myself- as that is how I usually end up spelling it :)

I tried it, it works, and I'm keeping it - I'm even tempted to get the paid-for version. Thanks again.
