How do I contact support?

I'm on a free account. I've been trying for days to upgrade to a premium one. But everytime I try, I get an error. I want to call billing and get whatever it is straightened out, but after two hours of searching I can't figure out how. Can anyone give me the phone number or point me in the right direction?

[sigh] Yeah....I've been all through that. Thanks, anyway. :( I guess I'll just have to find one of the mentors, and hope he can help me.

Forget calling... they disconned the number anyways. You'll have to deal with the shiny new support portal now.

Aaargh...I'm rethinking my decision to upgrade. :(

I signed on for free, and spent two months learnign my way around. I rented a building, set up groups, paid for some scripts...and decided I love it, and want more.

But after four days now of trying to upgrade, I've had nothign but trouble. I've been using my PayPal account since day 1 with no problem, but keep an error when I try to upgrade "This PayPal account has been restricted". Huh??? I've had this PayPal account for years, with NO trouble. But this is scary, so I call PayPal (who really does have a phone number, with real people on the other end), and discover that no, my account has no restrictions or limits of any kind.
They showed me how to increase my billing limits in my agreement, just in case that was the trouble.

Now, it's more FUBAR than ever... I can't even buy Lindens, and my rent will be due in a few days. :( If I lose my beautiful building, I think I will cry. :(

I can't recall having so much trouble giving someone my money before. :(

Try canceling your current PayPal agreement and then setting up a new one through the SL site. I don't know if that will help with upgrading, but when I've had billing failures in the past, establishing a new agreement always fixed it. The link to cancel your agreement is in the same area on the PayPal site as you use to increase your limit.

Thanks, Ann, but I tried that, too. Now, I've cancelled all the agreements, made a new one, increased the limits, but still can't buy Lindens or upgrade. :(

I think I've gone through every option on the support page, short of spitting on the screen. The only thing left is to try to find a mentor.

is your paypal linked to a credit card? if so, you cannot use it for your premium payments.

if you select "Update Payment Method" on your accounts page, the following can be found:

"PayPal

Linden Lab accepts payments through PayPal that are funded from a bank account, Switch or Solo card, or a PayPal balance. "

No, I don't want to use my credit card. I use my PayPal account exclusively on the web, and watch it closely so I know where my money is. :)

Almost ten years with no problems with PayPal, I don't want to change to a new way of doing things now. They've been too reliable, too secure and too accomodating when I've had problems to even think about using any other method.

Edited to say... Yes, PayPal has my CC information. That's not the issue -I confirmed that when I called them.

I think he was asking whether your account was verified via a bank account or used solely with a credit card.

Ah... yes, the account is verified, up down and sideways. I have a bank account, credit cards, debit cards and everything -and a small PP balance that should cover any normal purchase any of us might make at any time. There is no reason for any trouble with the account.

unfortunately, that IS the issue.

you can only use PP with premium payments if the PP accounts is linked to a bank account.

You might try signing up with SL Exchange and buying lindens through their exchange. The exchange rate is usually decent, and they give very good customer service.

It IS linked to a bank account. And a credit card, and a debit card, and there's enough money in the account already to buy anything I could realistically want.

Anyway...the Linden never showed. I waited over an hour -as long as I could- but finally had to leave. :(

I ever get this issues, and hope LL would solve my problems ASAP, i got solved about ten days though.. be patient.. LL has set up a new ticket system for paid users, i think we will get better response with our issuses. hope ur problems will get solved soon..

Sounds like she can't get a ticketed response because she can't upgrade to premium account. You have to have a premium account to get that kind of response....but she can't get a premium account....Sounds like a nightmare.

Actually, a basic account -can- use the ticket system for support with an issue such as this.

So...if Paypal needs a bank account, that means...no international premium accounts. Good way!! 9/10 of world population out of SL in 1 second.
