Is there any way to get music on land I don't own?

I would like to have some music that visitors to my home could listen to. There used to be streaming music that the landowner had set but it doesn't work anymore. I'd ask her but my dear friend passed away suddenly this summer. Is there some way to still have music? Feel free to IM me in world or PM me here. Thanks in advance.

It sounds to me like you might want to describe your situation to the Linden support staff.

I'm not sure if I'm reading you correctly here, but you should be able to do this without any problem. When you say "There used to be streaming music that the landowner had set but it doesn't work anymore" that isn't really correct - it absolutely does work. Runs on my land all the time.

What exact steps are you taking to enable this? Select "World", "about land", click on the "media" tab, and enter your streaming music URL (eg http://64.236.98.50:80/stream/1035 gives you some chill-out music).

If I've missed the point....be sure to let me know :-)

Ian.

If I understood the OP, the owner of the land has unfortunately passed on, IRL, so the OP is left with the options the deceased had selected and is unable to alter them. That being the case it sounds as if the station that was selected may have changed their output URL and so it's tuned into an invalid URL.

The Linden contact mentioned above seems necessary for a few reasons, however, if you know the URL you'd like to tune into, any media player will allow you to tune in and enjoy. As to your guests, you might find one of the many "radio/tuners" out on the market to be a helpful fix as well.

Sorry for your loss and good luck with the solution!

Yes, my friend was the landowner and she is deceased IRL. I've been in contact with the Lindens, as have others of our group that are/were renting there. The Lindens are not willing to tamper with the land settings, such as autoreturn.

I did a search in-world and saw some thing that uses iTunes. Has anyone used this product? I'm just note too sure how the whole DJ thing works and my latest project would sink without some entertainment other than witty conversation..hehe

Thanks for all the input though.

Sorry if it's an insensitive question, but if she's deceased, how is the land being paid for? I'm only asking because I would think that whoever is paying the tier for the land would be in a position to deal with LL on recovering ownership.

If it's group-owned land, and you have the ability to deed objects, a simple group-deeded radio would allow you to change the audio stream as well.

The land is still owned by her because her account wasn't closed yet. Not sure but I've been led to believe that she was well-off and had lots invested in her many properties. Most were sold already but this one hasn't. It is not deeded to the group though.
