Have you seen that Corsica is now on the map?

I recommend taking a look at it while it's still so fresh and new. Wide open vistas await. :)

I toured around. More hills and more green than Nautilus and lots of waterfront as promised. Hard to get too excited after seeing the butcher job that Nautilus has become.

I see they are not giving the mountains that UGLY UGLY Rock, But they are putting snow on top of the mountains there. Why cant they have some nice green mountains for a change? Does the top always have to be ugly? I also noticed a road in the middle of the ocean in one sim. Thats nice, I wish they would split up the ocean land with more roads. But then I am sure we would see alot of Floating Spinning ads in the ocean. Guess you just can't win here!

I did notice that some of the more recent sims auctioned in Nautilus have Linden Protected 'roadways' through the water.
It's better than nothing, although large protected bodies of water would have been nice.

I note that land barons continue to describe their sim-edge plots as 'Protected on x sides', even though the bordering 'water sims' supposedly protected are just sims that have not been auctioned yet.
Really sharp practice there!

I'm not in world right now. Where is Corsica located in relation to Nautilus?

Thanks for pointing that out Ava! I will pop up there in a bit. Did I hear that there is a bit of snow there? More bare rock or real snow?? Hmmmmm...I'll have to check that out for sure!

Looks like Corsica is North and tish West of Nautilus. Wouldn't it be great if they connected Corsica, Naulilus and the Eatern Continent?? Do the Lindens ever do things like that? It would make air travel a hoot!

It's more bare rock, I didn't see any snow.

Maybee it is rock, kind of granite maybe. It just looks like snow to me because the grass turns to a green white, kind of like grass with a skiff of snow.

Cool! I'm packing my kayak and saddling my horse. Now is the time to see unspoiled wilderness!

I recommend taking a few snapshots because it's not going to look like that for long.

Go ahead and pack them. The only problem is you can't unpack them, because you can't rez anything there.

Then I'll stick with the horse. She's an attachment, and is how I explored previous new continents. :-)

Now that my web server is finally back online again, I can share the lovely picture I took last night. (I'll just link to it, as I have a feeling the server is still having issues.)

http://secondsights.wavescrashing.org/node/47

It's a mountain in Corsica, which I gave the amazingly original and wildly unpredictable name of Mount Corsica. :p

LOL@Ava

i went too. i had trouble getting around, as stuff was not rezzing properly. is it only 1/2 finished?

i also concur that I think that is a granite topped mountain.

They are actively building out the continent, but I assume whatever is there is fully built. Well, maybe. I do remember that the newly built but not yet named sims in Nautilus did weird stuff, like not rezzing the ground, so maybe there IS something not fully developed about them. I only went to the big mountain in Corsica... everying in that region rezzed fine while I was there, but looking out from the mountain top, my computer couldn't properly rez stuff in the distance. It just kept drawing and disappearing over and over. But my computah she is weak for da SL, so it wasn't unexpected.

As for this particular mountaintop, it is most definitely rock. However, if you turn your terrain detail down low, I suppose it could look snowy. :)

i could see fairly far, as i had my settings up high to get the full (intended) effect.

it appeared to be incomplete, with land abruptly ending in the sea, altho i could walk on the sea.

also, depending on which direction i was facing, the land i was standing on might disappear, or the one next to it, revelaing the hidden underlying graphics. sounds like the same thing you described above.

I jetpacked around the first bit of Corsica. It is immediately north of Nautilas and what's more it's already on the map.

I'm a bit puzzled about the Corsica name though, as Corsica is a real large island in RL, in the Mediterranean and it is part of France.

Napoleon Bonaparte came from Corsica and nowadays it has a stong independence movement. Is Corsica going to be the cradle of trouble in SL, I wonder?

I've been studying the auction map on this site recently for hints of where Corsica might be (I know now - see post avove!).

In the process I discovered that reservation autions have been going on for sims way, way to the north of the current world, including private island areas. I wonder if these are going to be private islands or a new landmass.
