A few days ago I was banned from the RP sim I am a member of, I was good friends with the sim owners and I worked there and helped maintain it.
Suddenly I was banned and all my prims were autoreturned, the sim owner kicked me from his groups.
When I asked another sim owner he told me not to play stupid and told me that they found prims all over the sim that were chat listeners, and that I was recording all activity on the sim.
This confused the hell out of me, I was innocent and no chat has been feeding back to me, this person called me a liar and he now hates me, he was a good friend eh?
Apparently these spy prims were found by 3 sim admins, and they claimed a Linden verified they were chat bugs, however during the autoreturn only my possesions from my office on the sim came back to me.
Now I can only come up with a few conclusions.....
1. Chat Listener Scripts were in products I obtained from elsewhere, and that it had nothing to do, however my ex friend told me they used a Key Getter which told them it was feeding back to my key.
2. Its a lie, they made it up to ban for a reason they arent telling me about.
3. Someone with my mod rights altered my items to send chat back to them.
4. Somehow the prims were disguised by my name, when I am not the owner (I dont think thats possible though).
Does anyone have any ideas? I am as confused as hell and just want to know if I have somehow been framed. I miss all the friends I lost over this, and now I just need some peace of mind.

Unfortunatly...but a key getter can be in many devices, not just ones used for chat listening. Vendors, rental boards, anything that registers the usage of av to av functions uses key getters. Thinking your friend was given some bad information, and chose to believe it over you, in such a case that really wasnt a friend after all. Move on and start a new life in SL and chalk it up to experience..alot of live help info ive gotten in the past was either useless or unfactual, so beware not everything fed to you by them is completly useful.

Well, it was SW:RP sim, and thats the only reason I use SL, heh.
I have done nothing but work hard for the SW:RP community, I have commisioned a ship for the group I was banned for, I altered LCK to allow people to script compatible melee weapons, I have made many SW products for cheap prices...
Heck, I even worked for the SW RP Community Council, me and some friends think someone just wanted me out of the RP for some reason.
Luckily for me I am fitting in to Naruto RP, but its not the same, so if anyone has any information that could help me let me know...

Judging by the latest attacks (which I won't give specifics), there is a way that can change the creator and/or owner to ANY name ANY person chooses.
A few days (well I think a few weeks) ago, it looked as if Philip Linden crashed the grid.
Several days ago, a very well known resi was blamed.
A few days ago, another resi was blamed, who, from what I gather, had no clue what was going on, but is still here, so I assume the Lindens don't blame that resi.

This is why the private sims all disappear quickly. They must belong to one single individuals, the owners are responsible for nothing except monthly fees, and accountable to nobody. Even if you attempt to bring lawsuit against an owner, the Lindens will almost certainly fight to hide his identity. And yet this is intended as a 'platform' for real life businesses. Hmmm.

Yeah, I'm following my other thread but what you just said is majorly spooky! Do you mean that ownership of objects can be changed?
THis has got to be the strangest bunch of griefing SL has gotten to date!

I would take a reasoned approach. Give things a few days to calm down. A reasoned, carefully read and reread letter of apology for the misunderstanding can go a long way.
It's also possible that some of your office furniture might have had a visitor counter?
Also.. for anyone not in the know..
you can take any moddable prim someone gives you, and insert a script into it. The new scripted object will show the prim's creator as the creator of the object.
Transverselyt. Anyone can take a script you wrote, and if it's moddable, they can delete all your code and replace it with something malicious, and poof.. the script shows that you (like Philip Linden) are responsibel for a grid attack.

This info is what we are trying to avoid, while it's common sense to most builder/creators, some people might not know that. But that's also not the only way, unfortunately.

Thank you all for your replies, hopefully this mess will sort itself out.
Its highly possible I had a visitor counter script somewhere in my office, but I am unsure.
