I was trying to work with a "free" scripted door and when I clicked it, well....of course it went to whatever location had been scripted in it. I think I did it 2x before I realized what was happening.
When I opened up the script on a new one, I tracked down the location, but it seems to be underground on someone's property. I did check his property and he had about 20 prims from "others" there. My son said to ignore it, that it would come back. Is that true? Do they eventually come back, or only if their land is set to send it back.
Just a bit ago, I was admiring a new bench and tree someone so graciously set up next to my land, and saw a door hanging in the air. Yes, it was my door that I had lost, but not on my land. And darn....instead of right clicking to delete, I clicked it again, and off it zoomed.
Is there some way to track down stuff like that?
I don't want to be a litterbug.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's good to not want to be a litterbug -- but if you've just left one door somewhere, it's not a big deal. If it's bothering the people where it's gone, they can return it. You're only really a litterbug if you carelessly leave stuff around a lot, or if you intentionally throw junk into other folks' stuff. Finally, let me advertise that I have a free scripted door that just rotates, doesn't reposition itself Look up my profile in world, look at my picks, and go to my gadget store to find a box with the free door in it. -Rob

If you do use that script again, you want to reset the script ant time you change it. That will cause it to correctly recalculate the base starting position that the script works from when it moves the door.
There are a number of sliding door scripts in SL that have that bug - edit them or move them, or change owner, and you must reset the script beofre operating the door, or they offset to somewhere strange.

From: Idunna DeCuir I was trying to work with a "free" scripted door and when I clicked it, well....of course it went to whatever location had been scripted in it. LOL, I had the same freebie door! I have since learned a couple of tricks for dealing with "runaways" (as one of my boats is wont to do). First, keep your mini-map open and look for the blue dots that represent your stuff. That will help you get to the correct horizontal location (X and Y coordinates). Second, turn off rendering of the ground. You can find that option in the Client menu under Rendering, and then I think in the first submenu. (I'm not in SL at the moment... just IM me if you have questions, and I'll respond when I get inworld tonight.) I wish I had known about hiding the ground back when I started... it would have been a huge help during my first few building attempts!

Also remember standard scripted movement such as found in doors has a 10 M move limit. So look for your door somewhere within 10M
