I'm curious about how people feel about the possibility of Linden Lab/Second Life being sold to a larger corporation. I'm on the fence about it myself at this point, but 6 months ago my answer would have been NO WAY! Please provide the reasoning for your answer in the comments if you're so inclined.

To be honest , I would not mind if it was or was not sold , If it was , Maybe thing's would be worse ?

OR ...maybe things would be better ?

Its one of the unaswered questions untill it happens .

I do belive that if some big no face corp got involved it would have two effect's ....first of all i think the development of SL would be better , things would get fixed befor moving on to the " Next big thing " ... But in the other side of the coin ...i think that customer service would not improve .

I never have any issues with LL ... ever ..... i seem to be one of the lucky people who don't have any issues that make me want to scream or shout ... im lucky and i know this ... a lot of people do suffer at the hands of the lack of support from LL .

On this subject we will just have to wait and see if it happens ... What happens

If it allowed us to be adults (meaning we get to keep the "X-rated" stuff) and offered customer support, YES!

If it doesn't allow us to keep the adult stuff, no.
And if customer support was non-existent, no.
If both gone, NO.

This time last year, I'd have thought you were crazy for suggesting the idea, but now? This isn't how I should feel about a company that runs a world that I love, but it is.

SL needs to be free. It also needs to be better run. And LL appears to need some adult supervision. A buyer that would suppply all three? Sure, ok. One that does not - screw it, stick with the devil you know, not the one you don't know.

If it will add resources to fix the performance and an actual customer service department then I say yes. I think they will go public first though, so Phillip can cash in before this whole thing implodes. He better hurry: http://www.heise.de/english/newsticker/news/90646

SL needs to be free.
Yes, let's give everyone their own sim for free, that'll make things run better .

LL has shown time and again with thier constant changes to remove the "human touch" from its CS. its better for them to sell now while they can get a decent price, to a compant familiar with a venue like this than for it to keep limping along. google comes to mind or maybe even ....... There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

Not sold. Problems aside, Linden Labs made Second Life. It's theirs. I wouldn't necessarily trust anyone else to keep it as is for me. I have confidence that in time they will fix many of the problems we are facing, so all in all... No, not sold for me.

Yes, provided Google is the buyer. We might actually get a search facility that doesn't feel like it was built by a ten year old using Visual Basic for Windows 3.1. :p

this isn't a discussion for this forum. I'm sorry.
