I created my first char on SL about two weeks ago. The object creation and scripting is fun, I explored a lot of that. Then I found bots that harass me (follow me and stay in my space) in the public sand boxes. More often than not they were textured as a penis. Then I found that reporting the bots has no effect. Then I validated my account with my credit card, and the promised validation bonus of L$250 didn't appear (and never did). I also found out that reporting this had no effect. No, there is no way to provide a credit card for validation at character creation, it's premium or nothing. Then I found out about the free stuff in lots of places. I deliberately go to a PG zone (sorry, sexy and games just don't do it for me) and find a female avatar on her back, nude, with her legs apart, chatting with people. Anatomically correct. I found out the reporting this has no effect. I find out about money trees, and discover that even though I validated my account with a credit card, I'm still not recognized as "validated" by the system so I can't pick up anything from 4/5 trees. I play around with making more things, and decide that buying a wig for my avatar is much easier than making hair. I find a shop with hair that I like, but I can't buy it. No L$. I try to buy L$, but I'm still not registered with the system, even though I am. Today I find out that the customer support is being scaled back (from its current wonderful pinnacle), in addition to the new feature of "Estate Level Support" of abuse tickets. I can see through that one pretty easily, thanks anyway. I belive that is called "giving the keys to the inmates." This system is broken, badly, and my guess is that it is collapsing under its own weight. The business model of selling servers (sims) relies on the same principles as the dot-com boom (having dumb investors), and it will probably collapse just as rapidly. I mean, come on why the heck does Nissan need a dealership in SL? It won't take long before they and other companies realize it isn't the marketing/PR panacea they were sold on. I met some nice people, but I know nice people in real life and my credit card works here in RL. So do haircuts and stores. I gave this game/sim a shot, but sorry it just doesn't cut it.

When LL makes it hard or impossible for people to spend money, that makes it hard on all of us.

I don't think it's their fault that some tart was airing off her snooch in a PG zone!
Maybe it was a bug and her clothes hadn't rezzed...

Maybe it was a bug and her clothes hadn't rezzed... Yes that is true, but is absolutely there fault that the billing system is broken. Seriously, youd think any business would make sure their billing system works, how else are you supposed to sell new customers your product or service, This is a very sad post and it is very unfortunate that we have lost another potential member of our world. LL really need to take a close look at their customer service if they want continued success.

it's amazing how many topics are in the forum of people being ignored by the system.. ya they better get a grasp on it cause if something equal or better comes along they won't have anything to grasp long after..

Like in RL there are attention seekers.. as you were in a PG area, it could be fair to say, it was a teenager... not that some adults don't behave exactly the same way. It's a shame you have had bad experiences so far. But don't let that mar your opinion. SL is a big place and its about community/people. There are a lot of really good honest and genuine people in SL. Most are willing to help anyone, and that for me, makes it worth loggin in. SL is multi faceted and layered, you can choose what you wish to be involved in and where you want to go. Yes there is issues, but for the most part this can bring people together and we should not allow the technical side of things prevent us from developing an experience we could not gain outside of such a programme. Until LL sort out your credit card validation, I can loan you some spending money. IM (Instant message) me ingame and I'll drop you some to be going on with. I also have collected over the years, quite a collection of clothing and accessories for both Male and Female avatars, I can drop you those as well, along with Landmarks and useful tips in NoteCards.

can't authenticate
04-26-2007 05:11
I have been buying to buy a 1000L skin for two days but my account seems to have stopped working.."can't authenticate me". I went to my account and reentered by credit card info but it keeps saying that's pendiing. I am also very puzzled because there is nothing in the knowledge base about it or the Linden Lab updates, that I could see. I sent them an email last night. I suppose I shouldn't be spending money on this game anyway, but it would be nice to know wha the problem is and how I can fix it.

From: Ken March It was just too amazing for me to see that LL provides bad customer support. that was the whole point of my post..they ignore it.. from people losing land from sim crashes and i mean losing it for good and making the person have to take up days and days to get some kind of response besides the famous ,nothing we can do.. inventorys being lost..oh you have to speak with the venders..lol ya spend more time looking for them and hoping they will give you one of the thousands of items you had lost ect ect.. i am just saying they won't be the only place you can do this sort of thing in time..one day something will come along and it won't take long for them to lose thier gold mine..

How excellent of you AWM! I will have been in SL nearly a year and I rarely need the official help sources. The first place I look for answers is my fellow SL rezidents. Sure there are many people who are not helpful but that is true in RL as well. But there is a definite sense of community in SL especially if you get the opportunity to meet good people. Often I have sought help from people I did not know. And most if they were not too busy were very kind and helpful. SL has vast resources in terms of info and talent available and not just from official sources. I think there is even more information and help available from the fellow rezidents of SL than from official sources which is again similar to RL. Most often I get my answers form searching these forums. Certainly there are issues and I suspect that there will always be but I think that is to be found in any arena of interaction whether it is virtual or actual. Possibly you have not given it enough of a chance.

this is an off topic suggestion to infiniview, but could you make your banner so it doesn't stretch the forum? there are two reasons (it stretches the forum which people hate) and if your doing texturing for selling etc it shows a bit of lack of sense of esthetics (cause it stretches the forum) not being mean its just that most people hate that and it looks messy

Not exactly sure what you mean? On my screen my signature fits within the blue and the white parts without stretching anything. I am using a 20 in monitor, is it that you need to scroll sideways to read the text? I suppose the size may be a bit of flamboyant, haha you should have seen my first one! I do need to update my signature banner anyway, so I will consider your request. Also feel free to PM me with these kind of suggestions.

From: poopmaster Oh on the bright side, one less user = one less tiny bit of lag You chose your name well......... Ordinarily I'd agree with the person who suggested hanging in a bit, but the OP seems to have been dumped on at every turn. I'd probably walk away shaking my had too.
