At what point do group invites become AR-able spam?
When I started my landowners group, I sent invitations to those people who I knew owned land in my sim, and although a very few declined to join, I didn't receive any complaints about it. On the other hand, I do NOT appreciate my child alt receiving invitations to join sex groups from people that I've never heard of and who can't have heard of her any way other than doing an alphabetical sweep of the search listings.

Im pretty certain in light of the ban on sexual Age Play advertizing any sexual ageplay group that invites you would be AR -able. In fact sexual age play groups in an of themselves are probably AR-able invite or not.

From: Rihanna Laasonen At what point do group invites become AR-able spam? I asked one time in Linden Answers and my understanding was that if the person sending the invite isn't a friend or someone you know then it's AR-able but the context varies wildly (your land group example was people you didn't know, but weren't actually spamming). Mistakes also happen, and usually when I get a group invite, I'll IM the person who sent the invite if I don't know them and ask why they're inviting me and use their response to judge whether or not they simply got the wrong name.

In fact sexual age play groups in an of themselves are probably AR-able invite or not. She never mentioned any "sexual ageplay group"... Of course that MUST be the only reason to invite any AV, couldn't have been an alpha sweep such as she described.

Spare the hyperbole. She mentioned her Alt was a child. Excuse me for making an inference. The fact her Avatar is a role play child is of no relevance in any other sense. It makes no difference if someone spam sex group invites a furry, a robot, a hooker, or a housewife as far as whether it is AR-able or not.

It's about spam, not about ageplay

The group was a sex club, but I don't think it's ageplay-related; at any rate, it has a blank charter so I couldn't say for sure. But they wouldn't have had any way of knowing this alt was a child, since she doesn't have anything in her profile yet and hasn't been anywhere but my land and Orientation Island. The fact that she is a child is, to my mind, just one more reason why groups -- especially but not limited to adult groups -- shouldn't be spamming strangers. They've no way of knowing whether that random name on the list is a child av, a real child inappropriately on the grid, or even a Linden or congresscritter in disguise. You just don't spam people you don't know. If I get an invite, and there's something in my profile, or something I've said on the forums recently, or some other reason a reasonable stranger could think I might possibly be interested in their group, then okay, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. But you just don't pick names out of the database without knowing anything more about them than their rez day. And I hate spam, so although her age is only slightly relevant, if I can use it as a convenient whapper upside spammers' heads, I'll do so. If they think they might accidentally run foul of the ageplay-promotion rules, they might think twice about spamming strangers period. As far as the AR, I assumed it was probably AR-able because of her age and the fact that it was a sex group, but wasn't sure whether it would be if either of those factors weren't present. In the end, I decided the AR wasn't necessary. The spam-sender turned out to be a member but not an owner of the group, so I IM'd the owner to say "Just FYI..." The owner apologized, was perfectly civil, and at least gave the impression that they would think twice before spamming strangers the next time. And I'm happy with that conclusion. Meanwhile, the original invite sender has started accusing me of either being a pedophile or allowing an actual minor on the grid and threatening to AR me. Unfortunately for all of us, being a moron isn't a reportable offense, so I'm just ignoring him.

Well, the point is that whether they intended to or not, they made themselves into a sexual ageplay group by inviting a child av to join. That's what they get for using a list that hasn't been filtered properly to screen out people who aren't interested.

I get unwanted group invites all the time. But it's almost always friends who clicked the wrong button on their "find person to invite" window- if you close it the wrong way it picks the top person in your calling cards folder, which is alphabetical. If it's people you don't know, then it might be some kind of phishing- I got one group invite for some snooker betting thing that cost 6L$ to join- nice profit if you can sucker 100 people to click OK without looking. I've joined some fun groups
