Stupid bank declined my payment. Will LL kill me off?

My utterly useless bank decided today, that after watching payments go out to LL for the last 3 years, that this particular monthly transaction was a fraudulent one.

So they decided to stop the payment, and THEN ring me up, on a bank holiday weekend, to tell me.

So now, I can do nothing but wait until Monday to try and call LL and tell them it's the bank playing up, not me.

1. Will LL kill me off for apparently not paying? How long does that take?

2. Is there a way on the web site to manually pay an outstanding account balance? I can't find one.

3. Can I contact a Linden now and explain what's happened?

Thanks,

Freya

eh nothing will happen on the weekend so at worste you might be locked out of your account for 24 hours on monday or something. Put in one of those help ticket thingies and notify them maybe?

As I understand it, LL has a grace period for payment. In any case, they wouldn't kill your account over non-payment, but they might suspend it and confiscate any mainland you owned if you didn't pay for long enough.

If you have an available credit card or verified PayPal account, you could also change your payment method temporarily.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

My bank obviously failed to read your post and decided to call me at 8am this morning. The upside is at least I can pay my SL rent now.

If you're talking about your game avatar account, don't worry you can always revert back to basic account and not pay anything and you'll be able to come in sl. Later on you can switch to premium again if you decide that's what you want.

As far as payment for housing, you are allowed a few days grace period and since this is a weekend they understand. Besides, not all payment made towards the weekend make it thru', many won't get in 'til the following Monday or later.

As for contacting the game by phone, good luck with that. People here know how diffifcult that is being no one picks up.

I've changed to Paypal as a payment method already, but can't find a way to manually force a payment through. Is there one?

I certainly can't revert to basic. There's too much old and valuable land at stake. I've submitted a ticket, and will call first thing on Monday.

Before we go any further, is your PayPal verified with a bank account? If it's linked solely to a credit card, I don't believe you can use it to pay tier directly. Assuming that's OK, if you have valid payment info on file, I wouldn't worry about forcing a payment...LL will get around to it. If you're a bit of a worry wort (as I am myself), I've heard that trying to buy a few Lindens will 'remind' the system that your account is negative and push a payment through. If THAT doesn't work, or your PayPal is only linked to a credit card, but you're able to purchase Lindens, buy a sufficient number to cover tier and then cash them out to create a credit on your account.

Thanks Ann, it's from a verified bank account.

BTW, your sig is out of date :-) I tried emailing "billing@lindenlab.com" and received the following reply:

"Thank you for contacting Linden Lab, the makers of Second Life. Our support system has changed and we have discontinued the use of this email address. To find information on your issue and to contact support, please visit http://secondlife.com/support .

Please note, information sent to this email address will not be read or responded to."

Go to your account page, click on the link Increase Your Credit and you can transfer US$ from your PayPal account to your Linden Lab US$ account.

Linden labs will send you an email telling you when they couldnt take the payment.
The email will also state that they will try again after a certain number of days.

I had a similar situation when my visa refused a charge from LL protecting me from fraud. I emailed billing right away to explain the situation and that seemed very effective. So I would recommend emailing billing to explain. My understanding is that your account won't be closed right away and billing will see the email from you. Will your bank put through the charge now that its talked to you?
