I understand there is a way to "go invisible" on the screen on purpose. Saw someone do it where the map told me where they were and the red line from the sky was on them, but i didn't see them - they were supposedly 2 and 4 m away from me, but they were "invisible". They logged off before I was able to ask them how they did it. Anyone know how this is done?? Thanks.

There are a few ways one can do this. The simplest one is to run an animation which moves you say ten metres downwards, under the ground, though obviously this doesn't work if you're in the air. You can also attach things called "invisiprims", which use scripting to conceal things inside them and look transparent - mostly they're used for shoes and avatars, but they can be big enough to cover your whole body.
Neither of those will take you off the map or remove your nametag. _____________________

What about a skin with a completely filled in Alpha channel? Wouldn't that make you completey transparent?

Good question... which you can take to mean "I'm not sure"

What about a skin with a completely filled in Alpha channel? Wouldn't that make you completey transparent? Nah - doesn't work. That's just like wearing a transparent tattoo - you can't see it at all but you can see the default avatar skin underneath. Oh, my kingdom to be able to turn off the default skin! I wish LL would bring back the primitar !!! _____________________

I have a prim that is scripted to obscure 32-bit textures, meaning that it will make any avatar inside it invisible, leaving prims visible. However, if two people stand either side of the prim, they cannot see each other either, so in crowded areas the presence of this prim (or in my case, a suit of prim armour) is immediately apparent if you are in a crowd. Alos, it is not 100% invisible - when you move, there is a slight blur (like The Predator). I acquired this in a freebie box, and can only assume it was there by accident.
This prim is used in making high-heeled shoes as it makes your foot invisible, meaning that a large foot shape can be made to create the illusion that one is walking on the prim heel itself (little trade secret there). It DOES infact obscure the name tag, however it is unreliable and you cannot make allowances for where other people place their camera, as your name tag will move on thier screen accordingly. As yet there is no way to obscure a name tag or presence on the map that I know of. |
