How do you use a 'repeater'? This is no entry in the KnowledgeBase for the term.

If you are referring to some sort of device that will project Chat either to IM, or to another Location, you should be careful where you use them, and make sure you post warnings so people Know what they say In a Given area is being projected beyond thier expected 30 meter hearing range.

There are several types of this sort of "repeater". I have one called an IM Mike. Simply place it, and anything said within Normal hearing range of it is sent to your IM. No one else can hear it, Just you.The Range on these, as far as i know is near Infinite. I have been over 900 meters from mine and still received. I have never left one in Place long enough to find out if i can hear them from across the grid.

Another sort works as a kind of Microphone, and speaker in that anything said near the Mike is spoken out loud in Chat. The sounds are carried over one of the Silent Channels like /1 or /5 whatever you program it to. Again, the difference here is when the chat reaches it's speaker it is repeated Out Loud, anyone within 30 meters of the speaker can hear it. The Main Limitation with this method is, the device, because it uses the Channels, has a 99 meter range. If the speaker is over 100 meters from the Mik, the Chat will not transmit. I found a way around this by programming a series of them to Emit Chat on a silent channel once it reaches it's destination, another mike programmed to Listen on that same Channel is placed in proximity to it. By setting these up in a Chain, I was able to project Out Loud Chat over 700 meters. Only the Final speaker would Speak Out Loud, and Only the First Mike would Listen out loud, so anyone in the Intervening 700 meters would hear Nothing. That made the Intervening units repeaters in the truest sense of the word.

Again, before you use any such device, Be aware that using them to Listen sureptitiosly on private conversations, Or to Broadcast private conversations without the speakers consent Is a Violation of TOS and can get you suspended or Banned.

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.
