In the Aditi beta, download at http://secondlife.com/community/preview.php, there's an option for Joystick Flycam.
I don't have a joystick that I know where is, if at all, but when I activate this option, the camera sits still and the arrow keys make the avatar fly around in the non-moving environment - possibly flying offscreen and getting lost. _____________________

There's finally some movement on adding joystick control in SL!!!
From the discussion in the open source viewer community, it appears that they are adding preliminary hooks that would allow us to use a joystick to maneuver around. I'm not gonna run out and buy a joystick, yet, but its nice to see progress!  |

 My hope would be that this would also support vehicle travel - which we know is really funky with the arrow keys.. I'm not gonna run out and buy a joystick.. |
